John Donohue's Blog: Sensei as E Book

I'vd been trying to get my agent to move a paranormal thriller I wrote some years ago without much luck. It's called the Qi Eaters. Lots of Daoist magic and martial arts related stuff. Great fun writing it.

My son suggested releasing it as an ebook and took the project on. So now The Qi Eaters is available through Amazon and I hope readers enjoy it.

I'm really looking forward to the release date for my latest book in the Connor Burke thriller series. It's called Enzan: The Far Mountain and will be out in July 2014.

I think readers will really appreciate this latest chapter in the adventures of Connor Burke and Yamashita Sensei.

The book has already garnered some nice advance reviews in the Huffington Post and Kirkus.

It's been really gratifying to see the nice comments people have been making about Kage. That and the fact that I've started teaching again has gotten me thinking about the link between martial arts training and writing. I've started a new page on my website--The Writer's Dojo--where I'll be posting some ideas that I hope to turn into a small book on creative writing.

Plans are in the works to have the first 2 books in the Burke/Yamashita series available as ebooks. Sensei (now out of print) is the first in the series and it should be avaiable as a Kindle ebook sometime late in August.

One of the challenges of writing a series is the worry that you can grow stale in your writing.

Fortunately for me, I had a colleague who teaches with me in the Albertus Magnus MFA program who came by to say he thought that Kage was the best book in the series.

Always nice to know all that hard work has paid off for a reader.

So far the reviews I've seen on Amazon are good ones. I'm glad that the reader response has been so positive. Gives me lots of motivation to work on the second half of the next Burkebook--Far Mountatin--which is already in draft form.

Just received a box filled with copies of the new Connor Burke thriller, Kage.

David Ripianzi and the folks at YMAA have done a great job once more.

And I'm holding a contest on Goodreads and will give 5 autographed copies of Kage to the winners!

Juts heard from the pubvlisher that the books are in and should be hitting Amazon and the shelves soon!

Currentyl working with my publisher at YMAA to get ALL the Connor Burke thrillers out in ebook format. Hopefully we can have Sensei vailable as a Kindle book in July, at teh saem time that Kage is released.
