Hackmatack Tour 2014

What a blast! I have just returned from a 6-day tour of New Brunswick and P.E.I., courtesy of the Hackmatack Awards and the Canada Council. My book, The Gargoyle at the Gates, was a nominee and although I didn't win (congrats to Ashley Spires and her book, Binky Takes Charge), I had a wonderful time.

A few highlights: the world's largest fiddleheads, a giant lobster, great kids, dedicated librarians, wonderful authors, the gargoyle shuffle, 1000 km of driving and lots of Tim Hortons.

Thanks to all! Here's a link to my longer blog post with photos. http://phdowding.blogspot.ca/2014/06/...

FIREFLY wins the Governor General's Literary Award 2021

Firefly by Philippa Dowding
"With poetic prose, a memorable character and evocative settings, Philippa Dowding deftly handles challenging subjects in this emotionally honest story. Supported by a unique cast of characters, Firefly will shine for readers and resonate long after they close this quietly powerful book." Peer Assessment Committee, Governor General Awards

I could not possibly be more honoured to say that FIREFLY has won the 2021 Governor General's Literary Award for Young People's Literature (text). It's an incredible, humbling, and slightly surreal experience.

Thank you to the Canada Council, and to my wonderful publisher, DCB Young Readers who are small but mighty!

Keep reading everyone, and Shine Bright Firefly!
