Great question, so the town in the story is Point Orchards, and is not based on Port Orchard (which has almost 10X the population of the fictional town) I chose the name Point Orchards as a combination of Point Roberts (much farther north) and Port Orchard since the fictional town lies geographically between them. Hope that makes sense!(less)

Hi Sherrie,

Delighted that you enjoyed The Briars!

I haven't ruled out the idea of a sequel. Truly, I'd be most interested in exploring Jake's story further. He's a Golden Retriever of a human being, and I'd dearly love to see him get the happy ending he deserves! No plans on writing one as of yet, but I may find my way back to Lake Lumin in the future :)

Best, Sarah(less)

“Mom always says it's not the burden that breaks you, but whether or not you have someone to help you carry it.”
Sarah Crouch, The Briars

“Life was messy. Unpredictable. And marriage, while still a sacred union, was far more practical. It was an agreement between two people who woke up and chose to face whatever life brought them together day after day.”
Sarah Crouch, Middletide

“Everything here was so cyclical, just like life itself. There were seasons of fruitful plenty, seasons of want, seasons of bad and seasons of good, seasons of grief and seasons of hope.

What he'd learned these last few years was that no matter how bleak he felt life to be, there were good times coming just around the next bend, and no matter how content he felt when things were going well, there were sure to be harder times ahead.

Around and around it went. The pity would be to waste the periods of bleakness rather than to use them.”
Sarah Crouch, Middletide

Matt I just finished The Briars and it was fantastic. I had read Middletide and I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. It was fantastic. Don't tell anyone, but I was convinced it was JP the whole time. I was wrong. Congrats on another achievement.

So happy Middletide made it to you!! I grew up in a small town north of Vancouver, my parents currently live in the Columbia River Gorge and I attended college up in Bellingham (also lived north of Spokane briefly), so all over! I've been through Auburn quite a few times and I legitimately miss the PNW every single day. Enjoy it for me!
