I'm an Australian author currently living in Egypt. I love to read and write, obviously or I wouldn't be an author!
I write across a few genres - women's fiction, short reads about cats and paranormal fiction.
I love cats, which is why I write about them and here in Egypt there are many street cats. I feed the street cats around my apartment building every day, and love the peaceful time I spend with them every afternoon.
I love to draw too, but have very little artistic talent. So I draw patterns and shapes, kind of like zentangle but with my own twist to it.
A lot of writers will tell you they are fueled by coffee, but for me it's tea. Earl Grey, Lady Grey, English Breakfast, Green tea, any tea really. And chocolate.

Some days the words come more easily than others, and that's fine. On the slow days I make sure my social media is up to date, and I catch up with other aspects to being a self published writer.(less)

My characters live once they are in a book, readers relate to them and for a short time live in their reality. When I get feedback from a reader that they loved one of my characters, or one of my books, that's a great feeling.(less)

Panic

I’m prone to panic attacks. As someone with PTSD that’s par for the course, it’s not unusual, not unique. That doesn’t make it easier. Panic attacks are debilitating, not just from the panic, but from the realisation that there is nobody I can talk to about this. Panic attacks make you realise how alone you are in the world.
I sometimes post a little bit about this on Facebook and usually get a res Read more of this blog post »

“Alicia hated confrontation, hated to disappoint or upset her family. Her role had always been the sensible one, the peacekeeper, the organiser. She had never had the teenaged rebellion that many of her friends had gone through. Alicia realized now that she had spent her whole life trying to be inconspicuous, unnoticed, unremarkable. She dressed conservatively, never showing her body or doing anything to draw attention to herself. It was not through shyness she now understood. It was an attempt to protect herself from a world that was cruel and unpredictable and where no-one could be trusted.”
Sheryl Lee, Living a Lie

“You don’t need to feel how you think you should feel, or how somebody else thinks you should feel. There’s no right or wrong way to feel.”
Sheryl Lee, Letters to Myself

“But verbal abuse destroys the mind, eats away at your self-esteem and your confidence. You become a scared mouse, and that was what I was, a scared mouse trying to defuse a situation that hadn’t even happened yet. I was always trying to anticipate what would set him off and stop it before it happened. Sometimes it worked but eventually something would cause an eruption.”
