My latest title, Going Beyond the Little White Book: A Contemporary Guide to Tarot, is now here.

This is my fifth book, and the first I've written on the subject of tarot.

In 2017, my latest poetry collection, The Truth is Told Better This Way, will be published by BookThug.

I thought her one and only career would be as a writer, but I started reading tarot in 2008 on the advice of an astrologer and my life has never been the same.

Today I tarot help others move past emotional and creative blocks, overcome any obstacles or setbacks, and begin to live their truth through personal freedom and creative liberation.

I'm based in Toronto, but read and teach clients all over the world thanks to the wonders of Skype.

Locally, I read tarot at Likely Ge

I'm working on a couple of different projects right now - I usually have a couple of things on the go, balancing poetry and fiction at the same time.

First, I have a new novel in progress called His Name is Matter. It's an occult-inspired vampire novel. If you liked my first book, PostApoc, you should be into this one because it is just as weird and trippy.

Second, I'm doing another found poetry project using Twin Peaks scripts. You can check it out at twinpeakspoetry.blogspot.com, or follow it on my Goodreads blog!

I also have a new completed poetry manuscript, which I hope will find a home soon : ) (less)

I have been lucky not to have experienced too much writer's block in my time. My problem is usually that I have too many ideas and not enough time!

BUT...when I do run into a block on how to get a project from one scene or idea to the next, there are a few things I've found helpful:

- Stream-of-consciousness writing. Just wake up in the morning and write three pages of whatever is in your head. Don't think about it at all, just let it all loose. I don't know why but it works.

- Reading a passage from a book that I find inspiring. Spending time with another author's words is really helpful. It can help you refocus your own intention and use of language.

- Reading back at what I've already written. Sometimes, I just need to remind myself of the style and tone I'm trying to convey throughout the work.

- Going for a walk. Some of my best "a-ha!" moments have happened while I'm randomly wandering around.

- Talking it out. For me, I find it helpful to talk to my partner when I'm feeling stuck because he gives me interesting perspectives I wouldn't have thought about on my own.

And sometimes, just hearing myself talk about it actually unravels that problem, and I end up answering my own question in the process. If you have someone you can use as a sounding board, give them a call or hang out for coffee or a drink and see what happens from there! (less)

Do you want to write a book this year?

If one of your goals in 2016 is to start writing a book, finish a manuscript you’ve already been working on, or simply make your writing a bigger part of your life, then it’s time for us to talk.

When I started working on my first book almost 10 years ago, I didn’t expect that it would be easy, but I didn’t expect it would be quite so hard, either.

Because I quickly realized that it doesn’t really m Read more of this blog post »
