my life is in a storage unit.

Most of my belongings are currently sitting in a storage unit. They’ve been there since October. That’s when I started a new job in a new city, and had to empty out my three bedroom house to move into the spare room at my dad’s while I wait for said house to sell (I can afford a mortgage payment and I can afford rent, but definitely not at the same time).

In the past four months, out of a whole storage unit of supplies, the only thing I’ve really and truly missed is my food processor. That...

go green to save green.

Going zero-waste is totally daunting, and is a process. For someone like me who needs instant gratification, this is incredibly frustrating. But I have found some easy ways to cut back my carbon footprint, all the while saving a little money.

These five tips won’t turn back time on the doomsday clock (Cher, I am not), but every action helps. And, if you can help the planet and your wallet all at the same time, all the better, right?

Shop thrift stores. Whether it’s furniture or clothes, the l...

May 3, 2016

always the luck is here.

It has been quite a year. And it’s only May 3.

In February, I said goodbye to my grandpa. He was 82 and just a hell of a guy.I didn’t realize it until a few years ago, but my papaw was a Taurus. And, I know a lot of people think astrology is crap, but I swear when I realized that he was a Taurus, it was like all the pieces just fit together. Stubborn, loyal, determined, practical… Papaw was all of those. But especially stubborn. As his granddaughter and as a fellow Taurus, the apple doesn’t f...

my yearly rant on little women.

Last weekend, I was fortunate enough to not only be an author at the Southern Kentucky Book Fest, I was also able to participate on a romance panel with Molly Harper and Liz Johnson. The panel was absolutely fantastic, and the moderator amazing. I didn’t get to speak much with Liz (she seemed incredibly sweet, though!), but I sat next to Molly all day and, though she may deny it, I’m sure I drove her to within an inch of her sanity.

It was during that romance panel that I realized what made m...

Preorder and Chill is gonna be a thing, y’all

So, if you follow me on Twitter or like my page on Facebook (those are not requests, much like The Beast inviting Belle to dinner WAS NOT A REQUEST!)

“I don’t get why she’s so pissy. It’s not like I threw her father into a dank prison cell to die and am now holding her as my prisoner or anything.” Oh, wait.

…then you probably know that the third book (which can be read as a stand-alone) in the Always the Bridesmaid series is now available for preorder! That’s right. Always the Luck is now fi...

The Night I Lived as a Pretty Girl.

Without me sounding like a sad drunk girl, I just want to say that I’m not the kind of girl that has her drinks purchased for her by gentlemen in bars. And that’s okay because I listened to “Independent Women” by Destiny’s Child more than once in eighth grade and I can say with pride that I’m able to “throw my hands up” at Beyonce because I “really feel” her. Plus, I’ve never been roofied. Win-win. And, don’t get me wrong, there has been a singular occasion when a guy did in fact buy me a dri...

“I Don’t Need to Know How Easily You Can Kill Me” and Other Things I’ve Said to Online Dating Profiles

First, let me say that I have no problem with online dating. The stigma that online dating is only for weirdos and serial killers is antiquated and needs to stop. I know many well-adjusted non-murderers that have met their significant others online. Others have met one-night-stands and bad dates but the important thing to remember is that they all lived to tell the tale.

Now that I have that disclaimer out of the way…

Online dating scares the bejeezus out of me.

I don’t know what it’s like fo...

southern kentucky book fest, yo.

I haven’t updated this shit in like three months. I’d like to say that I have spent that time in a constructive manner. You know, writing books, exercising, eating healthy. But I discovered that binge watching Parks and Rec, Bob’s Burgers, the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt while eating so much popcorn that I had to take a break because my mouth was raw from all the popcorn salt I was consuming was a better use of my time.

But some cool things are happening. Namely the Southern Kentucky Book Fest....
