Being on Goodreads as an author is helpful, I think, as is participating in one or more of the groups there. I've also used book covers as my identifying image for things like Dreamwidth. I'm not really skilled or avid about social media in general, alas. Just turned in the ms. for a new collection of dark spec-po myself, but it's early days yet. All I'm willing to say right now is that I'm really excited about the project.(less)

This last is not my most recent collection, but it's my largest & includes my narrative sonnet cycle "In the Yaddith Time." Both are still readily available from Hippocampus Press. Thanks so much for your interest!(less)

All stories are love stories if you love stories.

This may be my favorite quote from this remarkably quotable cozy fantasy, by an author whose previous two books (The Wishing Game and The Lost Story) also celebrated the power and comfort of storytel

H.P. Lovecraft
“Pleasure to me is wonder—the unexplored, the unexpected, the thing that is hidden and the changeless thing that lurks behind superficial mutability. To trace the remote in the immediate; the eternal in the ephemeral; the past in the present; the infinite in the finite; these are to me the springs of delight and beauty.”
H.P. Lovecraft

H.P. Lovecraft
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of the infinity, and it was not meant that we should voyage far.”
H. P. Lovercraft, The Call of Cthulhu and Other Weird Stories

H.P. Lovecraft
“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown”
H.P. Lovecraft, Supernatural Horror in Literature

Agatha Christie
“It is clear that the books owned the shop rather than the other way about. Everywhere they had run wild and taken possession of their habitat, breeding and multiplying, and clearly lacking any strong hand to keep them down.”
Agatha Christie, The Clocks

H.P. Lovecraft
“The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents... some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new Dark Age.”
H.P. Lovecraft

Thanks so much! Can't quite believe a formal sonnet sequence managed to co-win a Rhysling. Gives me some faith in the 21st century.

Ashley I forgot to congratulate you on being a winner for the Rhysling! So congratulations! That poem is awesome.
