Classified Ads Now Placed in McCreary County Record and Somerset Commonwealth Journal
The McCreary County Record covers the Whiltley City area, home of Pearl’s lover and his wife. Somerset is the town in which the murder occurred and the trial was held. I hope to receive interest in my book from the locals, and perhaps be interviewed by phone for the Commonwealth Journal.

Google News Has Two Newspaper Articles About the Murder
Here are two mentions of the murder of Pearl Decker Owens found in Google News:
Article Title: Woke Up, Saw Husband With Another; Killed Her http://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1499&dat=19290215&id=ZqxQAAAAIBAJ&sjid=SCIEAAAAIBAJ&pg=3689,3280250
Article Title: Wife Claims Mate Gave Murdered Rival Gifts: http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=xb8iAAAAIBAJ&sjid=27UFAAAAIBAJ&pg=5674,3753995&dq=pearl+decker+owens&hl=en
I look forward to the day when all microfilmed newspapers can be found on the web. I spent an entire day in the UK Library microfilm collection in Lexington gathering the 52 newspaper articles I used during my research for The Unwritten Law, along with about 4 hours of car time going to and from the library.

How Amazon Fills Orders for Print Copies of The Unwritten Law
For those who are interested in purchasing print copies of my book, The Unwritten Law, I wanted to explain how the books are printed. Createspace.com, a division of Amazon.com, prints each book as the order comes in from Amazon. As a result, authors no longer have to personally purchase a stack of their own books for mailing out to customers (however, if the author does a book signing, he or she has to order copies of their own book and pay the shipping to receive copies to sell at their book signing events).
Amazon does a great job shipping their books (customers pay $3.99 to have any book shipped from them, but as those of you who are regular Amazon customers know, orders over $25 are shipped free).
When I ordered the ISBN numbers for my book ($250 for 10 numbers, with a different number required for each different edition) and the Library of Congress control number, I had to order print copies of my book, pay shipping from Amazon, and then pay about $6.00 each (for postage and a mailer) to ship the required copy to Bowker (who sold me the ISBN numbers) and to the Library of Congress.
This is a major improvement from the days when authors paid thousands of dollars to have books printed, but the cost of paying shipping twice is why I chose to not ship promo copies to countries outside of the US and Canada on the Goodreads site.
Perhaps I will be able to expand the promos overseas if The Unwritten Law becomes a best seller (with the help of my Facebook friends and family)!

I’m giving away 2 paperback copies of my book, The Unwritten Law, to residents of the US and Canada during the month of May at Goodreads.com.
