Holy Mackerels!

Robert Shearman will be reading tomorrow night (April 12, 2011) as part of the Chiaroscuro Reading Series in Toronto prior to flying back to London. My old friend Robert Priest is on the bill too. I mention this because Shearman and I were on the Writing and Relationships panel at Ad Astra on Saturday morning. It was fun and interesting, one of the rare panels you know you'll remember for a long time that felt like a good conversation among fine friends. Our co-panelists were Tamora Pierce, Howard Tayler and Karen Dales.
Speaking of Chiaroscuro, I have a reprint story, "Holy Mackerels," in the relaunched Chizine. I'm alonsgside Neil Gaiman, which is an honour.

I also have nonfiction in the current issue of the New York Review of Science Fiction. It's an essay about my experience chairing the 2010 Sunburst jury. Here is the Sunburst Award link:

Ad Astra!
Sadly I won't be able to make it to tonight's (Friday April 13) panel on introversion, although there were such nice chewy things I wanted to say. I'm an introvert, and it's Friday the 13th and all, so I thought it safer to stay home. No, just kidding, it was a transportation snafu. I'll be at the group autograph session tomorrow 1-3 towards the end, and on Sunday morning I'll be in the Writing Groups panel with Suzanne Church and Matt Moore. Looking forward!

4 pm to 6 pm
My Ad Astra schedule is:
Sunday 11 am Beaufort East - Creating Compelling Dialogue Suzanne Church (m), Ursula Pflug, Robert Boyczuk, Linda Poitevin, Rio Youers
Sunday 12 pm Arctic - Animals In Fiction
Douglas Smith (m), Sarah Water-raven, Fiona Patton, Sandra Kasturi, Ursula Pflug

I added the link to the Dagan Books anthology Bibliotheca Fantastica, edited by Claude Lalumiere, as the single author books I've got coming out aren't due out till summer and fall. The first is my long postponed story collection, Harvesting the Moon, from PS in England, and the second is a novel, The Alphabet Stones, due out in October from Coburg small press Blue Denim. Bibliotheca Fantastica
