Cannons and Corsets
When writing the Timekeeper I discovered that women actually fought in the Civil War disguised as men. I have always been a Civil War buff. Love it all. So out of the research I was doing came Cannons and Corsets.
Raven is the heroine of the story. A free thinking, independent, young woman who grew up motherless in a household with eight brothers which helped mold her into the woman she becomes. A fighter. So as I wrap up Cannons and Corsets and prepare it for publishing. I am going to give away a little more detail about the book each day.

Cannons and Corsets Pt 2
So each day turned into a few more than I expected.
Raven Truth is a tomboy. She can outrun some of her brothers. Outshoot most of them. She loves riding her horse. She has a secret that could cost her, Marikha and Sam their lives. Marikha does get a whipping for it. Not what you might think. Yes, her father owns slaves but he has never hurt one of them. Besides, he is in love with the beautiful Marikha. A secret that only Raven has figured out. There are lots of secrets at Olivia Manor.

Cannons and Corsets Pt 3
They all think she can't be a lady. She has a surprise for them. Her gown is a beautiful opalescent color accentuating the color of her eyes. Her brothers friends tease her. She dances with him first. Noah Justice. They make a handsome pair. So similar in coloring. Dark hair and pale blue eyes. She holds her head high, her shoulders back as Noah glides her around the floor as if she is floating on air. So beautiful she takes his breath away. He couldn't get close to her again after their first dance but it was a night neither of them would ever forget.

Coming Soon - Cannons & Corsets
Cannons and Corsets
Prelude is an event leading up to the introduction of something more important.
Their lives as they knew it were the prelude leading up to what they wanted to recapture as days gone by were only a memory faded by time and tragedies.
Joseph Truth is one of the wealthiest plantation owners in the South. He struggles with what is right for him and what is right for the South as a whole. He has eight sons who are of age to fight a war he wants no part of.
Raven Truth, Joseph’s only daughter.
Abolitionist. Free thinking woman. Intelligent. High-spirited. A rarity in a Southern gentlewoman. She may not believe in the institution of slavery but her men are fighting this cause for the Confederacy. She can’t turn her back on them. They are her father, brothers, friends and husband. She’ll do her part for the Confederacy even if it is a cause she doesn’t believe in.
Ransom and Robert Grant, no relation to the General; two Union soldiers. Torn between loyalty to their northern roots and the Southern women they love. They become ingrained in the Southern Truth family. During the war and in the Reconstruction of the South.
The Truths and their lifelong friends work hard and they play hard. Their lives as they know it having balls and backyard barbeques are a thing of the past. The bloody war is on their doorstep. Always threatening just close enough they can never have peace until Lee surrenders at Appomattox in 1865.
Then most of the men come home.
Their lives will never be the same as it once was. Those days are days gone by. Now is the time to rebuild what they can with only their hope and their faith when nothing exists but reconstruction, destruction and corruption.
