Marie Still, bestselling thriller and horror author, torments her characters from Tampa Bay. She also writes women's fiction under Kristen Seeley. Her novels include My Darlings (currently in development as a television series with Amazon MGM Studios), Bad Things Happened in This Room, We're All Lying (named by Buzzfeed as one of the most anticipated mystery/thrillers of 2023), and Beverly Bonnefinche is Dead (a Silver Falchion Award finalist).

Off the page Marie can be found attempting to corral her three mostly friendly cats for a cuddle, surviving the affection from her very cuddly 150 lb Rottweiler, or keeping up with her four children.

This one always makes my brain short circuit because there are SO many good ones to pick from! I'm going with a mix of old and new.

Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, the ending sat with me for months! It's just one of those books that crawls under your skin and stays there—in the best way.

The Maid by Nita Prose was one of my favorite reads last year, and it launched yesterday!

Did I Say You Could Go by Melanie Gideon was another of my favorite reads last year, total whiplash the entire book. I love a well written, unguessable twist, and this one had plenty.

Tender Is the Flesh by Agustina Bazterrica such a wild ride, I recommend it to everyone.

And then I'm going to slide a bit to the horror side of things with two of my favs Diary by Chuck Palahniuk and Your House Is on Fire, Your Children All Gone by Stefan Kiesbye

I cheated and did six, but I'm still proud of myself for narrowing it down. And now I'm going to hit submit and immediately feel the crash of guilt for all the books I left off.(less)

Bad Things Netgalley File Issue

Hello from Iceland! It brings me so much joy to see many of you enjoying Willow's story as much as I enjoyed writing it.

PSA for Bad Things Happened in This Room Netgalley readers, the file is corrupt, and the publisher is working diligently with Netgalley to correct it. If your file has weird spelling errors that start bad and turn into gibberish as the book goes on, you are one of the lucky recip Read more of this blog post »

“I laugh, and I laugh, and I laugh. A cackle, really. Yes, that’s what I’m doing. I’m cackling hysterically because I am hysteria. So appropriate. This is what men used to lock women away when the women no longer served their purpose. Difficult women who no longer followed the rules. Women brave enough to speak their mind and to no longer mind their speak.
”
Marie Still, Bad Things Happened in This Room

“It’s so fucking confusing. But hate and love are so closely related. You can’t hate someone you don’t care about. Not that kind of hate. And when you love someone and they do something so horrible and terrible, the hatred infects every cell of your body and melts into you. It becomes you.”
Marie Still, We're All Lying

“I spent my entire life running from my genetics, but they’d always been faster than me.”
