Filming wrapped for Bubba the Redneck Werewolf

It's been awhile since I last last posted, but quite a bit has been going on. My comic creation "Bubba the Redneck Werewolf" has gotten the film treatment I've been wanting to do for almost ten years.

It came out as good if not better than expected. With a mixed bag of of all ages, races, backgrounds and ability, Bubba was truly grown like is said of a village raising a child. Admittedly, A very ornery child though. (Insert laugh here).

It was not easy or fun most of the time as making an independent low budget comedy that has a costumed character involved is probably the worst first time project for anyone.

The crew was filled with well experienced people who have worked on major motion pictures and stage shows in the past. then add new talents and lightly experienced people who had dedication and the willingness to learn and contribute.
What I enjoyed best is that everyone pulled together like a crazy rollicking family and now quiet a few of them have new friends and associates to call, hang out or work with.

We had Cos-Players, Burlesque performers, vetted stage and screen actors all giving unique (in the good way!) performances. Some of the rough footage has been test viewed by everyone from just fans of the comics to Oscar and Emmy award winners, who were surprised that it did not look like a typical "B" film and the comedy and slapstick resonated well with them all.

There is a Bubba website being built, but for now you can go to the Bubba Facebook page and see behind the scenes stills and get familiar with the cast and crew.

As to where and whom is distributing the movie...Out shopping that now. Had some offers, but patience and the best deal for us all wins.

The one thing I'm proudest of besides our amazing cast and crew is that there were just the usual 'down home' values that I always made sure were part of the comics and Bubba mythos.

I personally went over it all to ensure that there was nothing more offensive in this than the usual Slapstick and goofy humor Bubba has always been known and appreciated for. The characters show growth in personality and ability.

We also did not use "names" (Although I was offered some right before filming began from contacts in LA and NY), we decided that as generous as this was, we would attempt to make 'new' ones we hope you all will enjoy in this and their future work to come.

I also have a feeling that like "Animal House" and "Star Wars" we found some new household names to come. Only time will tell.

I want to thank all the fans and our incredible crew for a job well done!
stay tuned...Be posting more soon!

Spring, unpublished Dr. Sarcophagus story and news about next Hitmen book...

Ok, Spring is here and so almost all the writers I know are in the mad dash for the Summer book season. But as for myself, I love the fall season and like Hollywood, I don't want to get "crushed" in all the releases to come. Besides, my nest Vinnie and Mook adventure in the "Hitmen" series is taking some plot twists and turns that even have m breathing hard to catch up! So, the next Hitmen novel will be out for the late Summer/early fall. I know most of you read my prequel "Hook, line and Sinker" (available from Amazon) and then ordered "Hitmen In Paradise" Thank you!

Now, it's time explore Mook's back story and in the next Hitmen novel, I think you'll all be surprised and pleased by the journey of discovery we all get to go on together. I've crafted a supernatural political thriller this time around.

Meanwhile, I've been working on a film project based on my Comic book character "Bubba the Redneck Werewolf" and working with Words take Flight Publishing on getting an expanded with new stories version of "Dr. Sarcophagus and his Carnival of Dark Desires" ready for an expanded version.

I'm happy to see that our take on "Freak Show" characters has inspired others to spring board their concepts in this genre. No, I am not like most writers. If I can inspire others walk through any doors i open, then I'm honored. Going back to my Werewolf character, Bubba, I saw plenty of this in the comic industry.

With only one blatant Rip-Off of my character that I had to deal with, the rest were inspired to do intelligent (Well, Bubba is pretty sharp, just no common sense at times), 24/7 werewolves doing some pretty neat stuff...like being detectives, super heroes and so on.

For all of you looking for Bubba books or other work I have out there...E-bay is on place to look and if you would like to read or purchase my anthology and novel work, just type in Mitch Hyman on Amazon, Barnes and noble, etc. to find me.

I have learned that writing under one version of your name (Even the Nom de Plume variety) is the only way the search engines and so on can truly find you.

Please go over to the Dr. Sarcophagus area of my Good Reads profile as I'm going to post a story that was only in the first limited release version of the anthology. It was taken out of the mainstream version, as it was "Object" and not characters oriented. Plus, some found it offensive and raw. It was. But it was also loosely based on a true story that I had encountered just starting out in the writing field back in the hard luck days of big publishers and greedy agents and fellow writers. All that has changed now and we all get along much better than back in the day. Well, the lawyers are still greedy and dangerous…but that’s never going to change. LOL! But I still would like some opinions and feedback from my fellow writers and fans. All you do is click on "Read Excerpt" or "Download Excerpt" and then download to read it on your PC or whatever device that supports the PDF format. Enjoy!

That’s all for now...lots of news to come and hope everyone has a great spring and hope that the harsh winter has not taken too big a toll on your life, family and your nerves.

Read something...create something. This is the best way to escape and renew your sense of life and wonder.

Tired of Zombies and Vampires?

When places like the Huffington Post have a Zombie section then you know it's time to put those freaking walking corpses back in the ground where they belong. And just hand me over that pale twerp, Edward, from ‘Twilight’ or those egomaniacal vamps from ‘True Blood’ and my boys will show you why being with the living is better. And ladies…they will protect you if you want it, have well paying jobs, live exciting lives, will wine and dine you, take you out in DAYLIGHT ( and we all know what it means when your lover won't bring you out in public),eventually buy you that Tennis bracelet at Jared’s that you wanted for Valentine’s Day. LOL! So, if you're tired of Zombies and Vampires...Read 'Hitmen in Paradise'! And, if you want read about something that could actually get you...then 'Master’s of Taboo’,because now it's all about the Cannibals that are starting to populate the news...for real! And if you want REAL terror...Screw around with the IRS! That’s why MY accountant is a Witch. ;)
