Wh…moreMy best advice for aspiring writers is, if you want to write, do it! You will never regret trying. However, you most likely WILL regret not trying. What story is in head right now? Start writing it. Go to a writer's conference. Take a workshop. Just write.

If you've already started writing and are getting discouraged, don't give up. A few months before I got the contract for my latest book (Suddenly Single Mom), I seriously considered taking a break from writing. I was so tired of creating proposals and writing sample chapters only to have them turned down. When my agent called to tall me she'd found a home for my book, I was so thankful that I hadn't given into that impulse to quit.

Writing is a long, exciting, often frustrating journey, but it is worth it! (less)

My husband left in 2011, and because I'm visually impair…moreMy most recent book, Suddenly Single Mom, came out of my experience as a newly-single parent. My husband left in 2011, and because I'm visually impaired and can't drive my sons and I were literally stranded. Thankfully, we had a kind and supportive church, many good friends, and a loving family. Through them, we not only survived but saw God provide in remarkable ways. At the same time, He equipped me with strength, drew my closer to Himself, and helped me grow in surprising ways.

When I started feeling inspired to share these experiences in a book, every person I mentioned it to said, "I wish I'd had a book like that when my husband left," or "I know someone who needs that book right now." I wrote it for women who needed to know they weren't alone and would survive.

My hope is that women will receive Suddenly Single Mom at the exact moment they need it. (less)
