the book is not coming along. in apartment search mode at the moment, but i'm taking a break from most social media and any dj-ing gigs in order to focus on finishing/editing/revising it. hopefully i'll have something worth sending out to agents/publishers by august. (less)

Salvador Plascencia
“I don’t know what they are called, the spaces between seconds– but I think of you always in those intervals.”
Salvador Plascencia, The People of Paper

Dexter Palmer
“I want you to know that I'm just like you, and, just like you, sometimes I have a little trouble holding things together.”
Dexter Palmer, The Dream of Perpetual Motion

Mark Z. Danielewski
“Passion has little to do with euphoria and everything to do with patience. It is not about feeling good. It is about endurance. Like patience, passion comes from the same Latin root: pati. It does not mean to flow with exuberance. It means to suffer.”
Mark Z. Danielewski, House of Leaves

Carlos Ruiz Zafón
“Envy is the religion of the mediocre. It comforts them, it soothes their worries, and finally it rots their souls, allowing them to justify their meanness and their greed until they believe these to be virtues. Such people are convinced that the doors of heaven will be opened only to poor wretches like themselves who go through life without leaving any trace but their threadbare attempts to belittle others and to exclude - and destroy if possible - those who, by the simple fact of their existence, show up their own poorness of spirit, mind, and guts. Blessed be the one at whom the fools bark, because his soul will never belong to them.”
Carlos Ruiz Zafón, The Angel's Game

Thomas Hobbes
“So that in the nature of man,
we find three principal causes of quarrel:

First, Competition;
Secondly, Dissidence;
Thirdly, Glory.

The first, maketh men invade for Gain;
the second, for Safety;
and the third, for Reputation.

The first use Violence, to make themselves Masters of other men's persons, wives, children and cattle;
the second, to defend them;
the third, for trifles, as a word, a smile, a different opinion, and any other sign of undervalue, either direct in their Persons, or by reflexion in their Kindred, their Friends, their Nation, their Profession, or their Name.”
Thomas Hobbes, Leviathan
