So many of my experiences could be included in a book.
What I have done is to take some of my expertise and compile it in a trilogy of disaster novels called the Lakedge Disaster Series.
My first one was called "The Return of the Spanish Lady" where my small fictitious town of Lakedge gets hit with an influenza virus resembling the Spanish Flu. I then wrote "The Curse of El Nino" this time striking Lakedge with everything climate change brought on to Canada. The third installment saw Lakedge crumble from the loss of the forestry mill which was the major employer in town and the economic impact is painted in "The Harness of the Riviera" because that's where the previous owner relocated.
In those stories, you will find a lot of suspense, a bit of conspiracy theories, a bit of romance, some scandals, many disagreements with a few fights, and possibly what you could call a bit of mystery. Try it out and let me know what you think.(less)

I also constantly read both fiction and non-fiction so that I can glean ideas and concepts from others then turn them into my point of view or impressions.(less)

Drowning is a sea of words

I teach crisis communications part-time at the university. As a good academic should, I give at least one essay assignment per course. Every semester, I get pages of words that could be whittled down to a few concise paragraphs.

Professors have ingrained into students the thought that more words means better work. So students manufacture documents in the tens of thousand words just to fit that mol Read more of this blog post »
