I loved it! I could hear Val’s voice in my head as I read the lines. It makes me wish I’d read Mark Twain as a kid, and it also makes me wish I’d seen Val perform this live in person. RIP.

More of Sara's books…
Sylvia Plath
“And by the way, everything in life is writable about if you have the outgoing guts to do it, and the imagination to improvise. The worst enemy to creativity is self-doubt.”
Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath

Zelda Fitzgerald
“Nobody has ever measured, not even poets, how much the heart can hold.”
Zelda Fitzgerald

Ted Hughes
“The inmost spirit of poetry, in other words, is at bottom, in every recorded case, the voice of pain – and the physical body, so to speak, of poetry, is the treatment by which the poet tries to reconcile that pain with the world.”
Ted Hughes

Sylvia Plath
“Kiss me, and you will see how important I am.”
Sylvia Plath, The Unabridged Journals of Sylvia Plath

Oscar Wilde
“Death must be so beautiful. To lie in the soft brown earth, with the grasses waving above one's head, and listen to silence. To have no yesterday, and no tomorrow. To forget time, to forgive life, to be at peace.”
Oscar Wilde, The Canterville Ghost
