How to Create Uplifting Energies for 2024
Let’s talk about 2024. We know that New Year’s resolutions have a limited commitment time, so how about creating energy for your ideal lifestyle instead? I don’t mean deciding to lose weight or quit smoking. I’m talking about ways of being that bring peace, self-awareness, and improved relationships into your life.
Here are ten energetic shifts you can start implementing right away. Be easy on yourself and try practicing them one at a time until it becomes second nature. Note the changes that occur because of that particular strategy and then move on to the next one. Having a greater sense of self and experiencing your connection to the world motivates you to continue applying these and find additional ways to create your best life.
- Reply to people you know who send a text or email within 24 hours.
- Keep your promises. If you say you’ll do something, then follow through.
- Identify anxiety-provoking thoughts and challenge them. For example, “I’ll never be successful.” Shift the perspective to “I have succeeded at X, Y, or Z.” Focus on the things that are going well rather than calling out the things that aren’t. Avoid using absolute generalizations such as “all, always, never, and everyone.” These create hopelessness. Rather than saying, “No one enjoys working with me,” replace it with “[This person] has a style that is out of alignment with mine.” Then find common ground.
- Practice gratitude every day for everything in your life, even the challenges, big or small.
- Seek peace, within and outside of yourself.
- Be honest with yourself and others.
- Stop complaining about what’s wrong. Identify things that need to change in your life and take action.
- Be kind to strangers, yourself, and those around you.
- Nest. Create a peaceful sanctuary for yourself and let go of stress. Allow yourself to have downtime without guilt or need for productivity.
- Periodically take mini-mind vacations by daydreaming, meditating (guided, transcendental, or whatever method you prefer), or closing your eyes and getting lost in a piece of music.
