Rachel D. Oak writes dark, angsty romance for readers who like their love stories complicated, their fictional men emotionally unavailable, and their playlists on repeat.

She's the author of the 3 Truths 1 Lie series, a rockstar romance set against the heat of Australia, where love triangles cut deep and the slow burn is worth every page.

Based in a sleepy village in Northern England (with her partner and two very opinionated dogs), Rachel published her first book after a decade of plotting and a one-month deadline she set herself on a dare. She hasn't stopped since.

Thank you so much!
Some of my fave books include Too Sweet by I. A. Dice (the entire Hayes Brothers series is a 10/10 in the romance feels), Pucking Around by Emily Rath (a fun hockey romance), and Whispers of Fire by Cassie Kellergan.
If you're more into dark romance, I like the Devils Night series by Penelope Douglas, the Pucking Wrong series, and Heartless Heathens (a standalone).

I also have a full video ranking all my 2025 kindle romance reads, starting with the ones i loved most, here: https://youtu.be/OKyKmUtKL9A if you ever need more recs :) (less)

Straight off the bat, this one is gruesome so if you're not into reading about fingers and toes being amputated in detail, I'd tell you to skip it.

As the Dua Lipa meme would say,
"go on girl, give us nothing"

It was painfully emotionless. I didn't laugh, or cry, or feel much of anything, which is a feat in itself considering this is an 'emotional and uplifting romance'.

Even in its most tense mome

This 👏THIS👏 is what I mean when I say a dark romance isn't synonymous with violence within the core relationship, but rather darkness within the surrounding context.

If you want a morally grey guy who's working on himself (badly, but trying) there wil

Call me a foolish believer but I had hoped, given that this book had higher ratings than the first in the duet, that we would've somehow gotten better.
Perhaps the writing matured slightly, or a sprinkling of the valid criticism raised in the first p

Anybody who gave this 5 stars should qualify for a CT scan. No joke, I'm deeply concerned for their cognitive health.

In this case, it was quite possibly the worst written book I've witnessed in a while.
And I was trading handwritten fanfiction in mid

This started as some wattpad-level garbage, and call me a raccoon 'cause I'm loving the trash baby!

Her college boyfriend cheated on her with her ex,
And both used it as a coming out of the closet
