DUSTIN LEE writes sweeping, genre-bending fiction with soul — stories that span post-apocalyptic thrillers, literary Westerns, historical sagas, and love stories, all bound by the emotional gravity of grief, hope, and desire. His work is gritty, lyrical, and obsessed with the kind of truth that doesn’t flinch.

He is the co-founder of Death Do We Party Press, where he leads creative development and champions stories that feel like relics — books meant to be kept, not just read.

When Erica gave me The Creative Act: A Way of Being by Rick Rubin for my birthday last year, it felt fated. I restarted West of Nowhere as a result of reading it, and the book met me exactly where I was — somewhere between exhaustion and renewal, between the noise of the world and the qui Read more of this blog post »

Dustin Lee added a status update: I did an editing pass on Erica’s Bury My Name this weekend—loving how it’s shaping up as a true continuation of The Daisy Chain: literary but not overwrought, full of ruin, redemption, and action. Added new imagery and symbolism to The Hollow Commander, which is turning into a much longer, deeper book than West of Nowhere as planned.

“They lived in a sun-faded trailer on what felt like the edge of the world,
where the sky pressed so close that it seemed possible to reach out and touch it. But it also seemed possible to suffocate from it weighing down on them.”
Dustin Lee, The Westerners: An Aether Gun Story

“The frontier isn’t always a place. Sometimes it’s a season of your life. The space between who you were and who you might still become.”

“Desire’s the only weapon that never runs out of ammunition.”

“Love in war is an act of defiance. A fragile thing, born in blood and fire, clinging to moments stolen between battles. It is not the love of quiet homes and safe futures; it is reckless desperate, and fleeting. It is whispered apologies in the dark. It is hands gripping too tight, bodies moving too fast, lips crashing together because tomorrow is never promised. It is what exists when nothing else can.”
Dustin Lee, West of Nowhere

“Magnets are weak. They don’t have a choice and are simply drawn in the right direction. But there are certain God-given truths I’m not just attracted to—I’m tethered. My wife, my children & Texas.”
Dustin Lee

“Mercy lets a man sleep. Memory binds him to the tiller, rowing through grief’s endless stream.”
