Laura Gilfillan writes magic and nature fantasy books for young adults and the young at heart. So far she has written five novels including Marinian Pearls, The Fairy King, and Magic Thieves. Don’t worry, the list doesn’t end there, and she’s adding to it as fast as she can. One book at a time, one word at a time. She loves magic and nature, obviously, and spends all the time she can in the great outdoors. As for magic, well, it’s there if you know how to look for it. Or at least she likes to imagine so.

Sometimes I try several different ideas, until something takes off again. It seems to me that the way to deal with a writing block is to just start writing, anything, even if it's junk, until good ideas can start to flow again. It's just that, I think that a block is a useful indication that something has gone wrong with the storyline, and needs to be fixed.(less)

The reason I wanted to take another whack at it is because I have also started writing the sequel for it. So I am currently working on two novels in tandem: "The Magic Thieves", and its sequel, "The Magic Guardians."(less)

The Children Are Noisy

I'd like to share a poem I wrote recently:

The children are noisy,
the husband complained
Yes they are,
the wife agreed with a smile

In time the children grew and went their way

Our home is quiet and peaceful,
the husband said
Yes it is,
the wife agreed with a tear
