The method that is best for me is to talk it out. I think better when I verbalize a problem, so the mere act of explaining it to someone else clarifies it to the extent I find my own solution.

Out of the Dark

My October 2020 WW2 novel is about a boy coming of age in Adolf Hitler's Nazi Germany. His world view is influenced by Hitler's carefully orchestrated youth programs.

Following the enactment of the Law on the Hitler Youth on 1 December 1936, boys had to be registered with the Reich Youth Office in the March of the year in which they would reach the age of ten; those who were found to be rac Read more of this blog post »

“She zipped the dress up at the back and stood in front of the oval cheval mirror, looking at herself as if she were a stranger. This was the first time since she had arrived back in France that she had seen herself in full-length mirror; her old apartment did not possess such a luxury. She studied herself for a while. Who was she, she asked herself? How had it come to this?”

Richard Barnes The Rising Tide: A Novel of World War II
The First of Jeff Shaara's Trilogy on WWII in Europe. Written as if the major players -- Eisenhower, Marshall, Roosevelt, Churchill, etc. were being quoted. This makes the series quite readable. Lots of research to make you feel you've learned something, a well.
Thes first one of the three deals with Africa and the invasion of Italy.
