The Rising Tide: A Novel of World War IIThe First of Jeff Shaara's Trilogy on WWII in Europe. Written as if the major players -- Eisenhower, Marshall, Roosevelt, Churchill, etc. were being quoted. This makes the series quite readable. Lots of research to make you feel you've learned something, a well.
Thes first one of the three deals with Africa and the invasion of Italy.
