Dr. Arnold Spencer Leese British veterinarian and minor politician.
When he qualified as a veterinarian, he moved to British India where he specialized in camels and was highly respected because of his work. He wrote a book that was to remain a standard work in the field for nearly 50 years.
As an animal lover he was a staunch opponent of kosher slaughter and all other forms of animal cruelty.
During World War I he served on the Western Front and in the Middle East. In 1924 he joined the British Fascists and was elected as a councilor in Stamford, Lincolnshire. In 1933 he founded the Imperial Fascist League. Which soon was pushed into obscurity mainly by Oswald Mosley`s BUF. In 1943 Leese was imprisoned under the Defense Regulation 18B. In 1947 he went to prison again for aiding members of the Waffen SS.
Leese was politically active until the end of his life and was a great inspiration for many of the subsequent leaders of the British far-right including Colin Jordan.In 1951 he published his autobiography.
