NBC Dateline Review | Alex Murdaugh
Considered a significant development in the Alex Murdaugh case, lead investigators from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) have revealed for the first time on TV that their newly discovered video evidence placing Murdaugh at the scene of the murders of his wife Maggie and son Paul just six minutes before the crimes took place was the tipping point in their investigation
This revelation, which has not been previously disclosed on TV, cast doubt on Murdaugh's alibi about only being at the house. SLED Agent David Owen, who played a key role in the investigation, expressed his excitement upon uncovering the video evidence, stating, "I was really excited because I can prove that Alex was lying to me." This revelation, Owen believes, was a pivotal moment in the case, marking a turning point in the investigation.
Crime and Cask | Alex Murdaugh
However, a closer examination of the timeline presented by SLED raises concerns about the strength of their case. While the video evidence places Murdaugh at the crime scene at 8:44 pm, the prosecution asserts that Maggie and Paul were both shot around 8:50 pm, just six minutes later.
This narrow timeframe raises questions about Murdaugh's ability to commit the murders within such a short period, especially considering the lack of physical evidence linking him to the crime scene.
Moreover, the prosecution's narrative of Murdaugh as a calculating mastermind contrasts sharply with SLED Agent Ryan Kelly's description of Alex's seemingly inept attempt to stage his own suicide. Agent Kelly's account of the Mercedes SUV used in the incident, with its barely deflated tires and lack of visible obstructions, suggests a level of carelessness that is inconsistent with a meticulously planned murderer they described in Alex.
In light of these inconsistencies, the Dateline episode featuring interviews with SLED agents and Murdaugh's housekeeper Blanca Simpson appears to favor the prosecution's narrative, presenting Alex Murdaugh as a cunning killer, driven by financial motives.
However, the episode also includes Simpson's account of her interaction with Murdaugh regarding his clothes worn on the day of the murders. This interaction, which occurred on August 11, 2021, coincides with the day SLED Agent David Owen confronted Murdaugh about his clothing, leaving him unable to recall.
This sequence suggests that Murdaugh's inquiry about his clothes was likely prompted by Owen's questioning, rather than being a premeditated act to cover up his tracks.
While SLED investigators have undoubtedly conducted a thorough investigation, the emerging evidence raises questions about the strength of their case against Alex Murdaugh. The prosecution's narrative of a meticulously planned murder seems at odds with the inconsistencies in the timeline and the lack of physical evidence.
Alternative Theory
In addition to the inconsistencies in the prosecution's case, there are also alternative theories about the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh. One theory suggests that Paul was hunted down and executed with his own guns to silence him about his involvement in a local unsolved murder. This theory is based on the fact that Paul was facing criminal charges in connection with Beach's death and that he was reportedly about to cooperate with investigators about the unsolved case.
Who is the person who was really close to the Murdaughs that connects the Murdaughs to the real killers? Who would also have a close relationship with Mallory Beach that would be hateful towards Paul? Connect these dots, and you have yourself the alleged killers of Paul and Maggie Murdaugh.
Because no one trades some financial crimes for a murder charge. But a clear motive to kill Paul would be to silence him to cover up a previous murder. That's a risk worth taking.
Look at how sloppy the murders were. Any good detective will tell you that Paul's shooting was from someone who was close to him but was extremely angry at Paul. They'll go on to tell you that Maggie's killing was wildly sloppy, and the shooter or shooters were taken by surprise by Maggie. Almost as if they thought Maggie went back to the house on the golf cart with Alex, just like Alex said he did under oath.
Crime and Cask | Alex Murdaugh
For those now intrigued by my assertions and clues, I urge you to go read my new book, Defending Alex Murdaugh: Not Guilty by Reasonable Doubt, available at Amazon and Barnes & Noble. It's rated 4.6 on Amazon and Goodreads because it was well-investigated, thought-out, and well-written. I use the prosecution's own evidence to prove to my readers that Alex Murdaugh not only did not commit these crimes, but in many cases, science and math prove he could not have even come close to doing it.
Conclusion
The murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh remain a complex and puzzling case. While SLED investigators have made significant progress in their investigation, there are still many unanswered questions. Further investigation is needed to uncover the truth behind these murders and ensure that justice is served in a second trial of Alex Murdaugh.Defending Alex Murdaugh: Not Guilty by Reasonable Doubt

The Alex Murdaugh Saga: A Tale of Timing and Contradictions
The Alex Murdaugh double murder case has captivated the nation with its twists and turns, leaving many questioning the truth behind the tragic events of June 2021. The prosecution's narrative paints a picture of a husband and father driven by financial desperation and a desire to silence his wife and son. However, a closer examination of the timing of the events raises serious questions about the prosecution's theory of the crime.
According to the prosecution, Alex Murdaugh shot his wife, Maggie, and son, Paul, at their family's property in South Carolina. They claim that Murdaugh shot Paul twice with a 12-gauge shotgun, then put down the shotgun, picked up a .300 Blackout rifle, and ran 30 feet at an angle to shoot Maggie. This sequence of events is based on the physical evidence found at the crime scene, including shell casings and blood splatter.
However, there is a critical flaw in the prosecution's timeline. Maggie was found dead just 30 feet from the hangar door, where she had been shot. If the prosecution's version of events is correct, it would have taken Murdaugh 12 to 15 seconds to complete the actions described, including putting down one gun, picking up another, running to Maggie, and shooting her.
According to eyewitness testimony, Maggie was able to run out of the hangar and travel 30 feet in just 5 to 6 seconds. This means that she would have reached her final resting spot well before Murdaugh could have gotten to her and shot her.
Additionally, crime scene investigators have testified that Maggie had gun stippling on her body. Gun stippling is caused by small particles of metal and gunpowder being ejected from the gun barrel when it is fired. These particles can only reach a range of about 3 feet, so the presence of gun stippling on Maggie's body indicates that she was shot from a distance of less than 3 feet.
This further contradicts the prosecution's claim that Murdaugh shot Maggie from 30 feet away. If Maggie was shot from within 3 feet, then Murdaugh could not have been the one who shot her.
The discrepancies in the timing of events and the physical evidence raise serious doubts about the prosecution's case against Alex Murdaugh. While the prosecution has presented a narrative that seems plausible, a closer examination reveals inconsistencies and contradictions that cannot be ignored.
The Alex Murdaugh case is a complex and challenging one, and it is important to consider all of the evidence carefully before drawing any conclusions. The prosecution's theory of the crime is based on circumstantial evidence, and the inconsistencies in the timing of events and the physical evidence cast doubt on its reliability.
As the trial continues, it is crucial to remain objective and open-minded. The pursuit of justice requires a thorough and impartial examination of the evidence, and we must be willing to question assumptions and challenge established narratives in order to uncover the truth.Defending Alex Murdaugh: Not Guilty by Reasonable Doubt

Excerpt from the Book: DEFENDING ALEX MURDAUGH Not Guilty by Reasonable Doubt
I have a lot more questions I would have asked Nathan Tuten on the stand for a lot more detail about that party, when Paul discovered his gun was missing, and how Nathan found out it was missing. Did they ever hear of who stole it, or have suspicions? I would have asked if Nathan owned a .300 Blackout, or did he just use the Murdaugh guns. I would have dug deeper into his experiences at Moselle, when living in the cabin. Tell me about how you get to the kennels from the cabin, are there trails behind the cabin to the kennels, shortcuts that he knew of?
Then I have to ask, why did Jim Griffin try to trip up Nathan on the question of the thermal scope.300 Blackout. The questions start like this, Jim Griffin, ‘whose gun did you think got stolen, Paul’s or Buster’s?’ Nathan seemed taken aback by this question with an abrupt response, “I’d assume Paul’s.”
Nathan’s eyes just after being asked by Jim Griffin, whose gun did you think got stolen, Paul’s or Buster’s? Photo: Colleton County
Jim Griffin, “were you aware that the .300 Blackout replacement, did not have a thermal scope?’ Nathan, “if I didn’t know about the gun, then no!” Griffin, “so, you know whether or not this is Buster’s .300 Blackout sitting here in the courtroom?” Tuten angrily quipped back, “that is the gun that I used at Moselle.”
Griffin stops with this line of questioning, mistakenly in my opinion. But the fun doesn’t stop there. I want you to look at the prosecutor’s body language while the first questions started coming in. Then their body language after the questioning starts to get tight, and Tuten gets upset at the question of knowing about the tan .300 Blackout. They went from bored, to concerned and perked up in a matter of seconds. My opinion on this is that something is up with these questions, and Nathan does not like this line of questioning.
Think of it this way. Nathan testified that he and Paul were best friends and talked almost daily by phone. We also know Will Loving, another close friend of Paul and Buster and the Murdaughs, and the Tuten’s and the Gibson’s, and so on. But Paul gets another replacement .300 Blackout in April 2021, and Will Loving and Paul sighted it in near the main house at Moselle, and the first time Nathan had ever heard of Paul even getting another .300 Blackout was at the trial?

Crime and Cask's Extensive Experiments
Crime and Cask conducts extensive experiments at Moselle for book defending Alex Murdaugh
Crime and Cask, the author of the bestselling book Defending Alex Murdaugh, Not Guilty by Reasonable Doubt, has conducted extensive experiments at the Moselle property in South Carolina to test his theories about the murders of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh.
Cask has been a vocal critic of the prosecution's case against Murdaugh, and his book presents a number of alternative theories about the murders. In order to test these theories, Crime and Cask conducted a variety of experiments at Moselle, including:
Testing the amount of time it would take to travel between the different locations on the property where the bodies were found.
Testing the times it takes to drive from various entrances and tie it back to the SLED timeline.
Cask also found that it would take more than 10 to 15 seconds to travel between the feed room to where Maggie's body was found. This suggests that the killer had to be stationed and not move like the prosecution says Alex did, as Maggie made it to her final resting spot in under 6 seconds.
Cask's experiments have been praised by some for their rigor and attention to detail. However, others have criticized his methods, arguing that his experiments are not conclusive.
Regardless of the criticism, Cask's experiments have generated a lot of discussion and debate about the Murdaugh murders.
Conclusion:
Crime and Cask's experiments at Moselle are an important contribution to the Murdaugh murder case. His work has raised serious questions about the prosecution's case and has provided new insights into the crime scene. It will be interesting to see how Cask's experiments are used in the defense of Alex Murdaugh in trial number two.

Cask's first book, Defending Alex Murdaugh, Not Guilty by Reasonable Doubt, was a critical and commercial success. In the book, Cask takes a deep dive into the evidence against Murdaugh, and raises serious doubts about his guilt in the murders of his wife and son.
Cask's second book, The Murder of Maggie and Paul Murdaugh: A True Crime Investigation, is set to be released in early 2024. In the book, Cask presents new evidence and theories in the case, and he challenges the official narrative.
Cask is a rising star in the true crime genre, and his books are eagerly awaited by fans. He is known for his unbiased approach to his work, and his commitment to finding the truth.
Here is a short story about Crime and Cask:
Crime and Cask sat at his desk, staring at the blank computer screen. He was supposed to be working on his next book, but he was struggling to focus. His mind kept wandering back to the case of Alex Murdaugh.
Cask had been following the case closely since the beginning, and he had serious doubts about Murdaugh's guilt. He had read all of the evidence, and he had heard all interviews of many of the key players and completed many experiments out at Moselle. He was convinced that there was more to the story than what the prosecution was letting on.
Cask took a deep breath and started to type. He poured his thoughts and frustrations onto the page. He wrote about the inconsistencies in the prosecution's case, and the possible alternative suspects. He wrote about the Murdaugh family's secrets, and the power they wielded in South Carolina.
Cask wrote for hours, until his fingers were sore and his eyes were burning. When he was finished, he read over his work and smiled. He knew that he had something special.
Cask's book was a bestseller. It was praised by critics and readers alike for its unbiased approach and its compelling writing style. Cask had become one of the most respected true crime authors in the world.
But Cask wasn't satisfied. He knew that there was still more to the Murdaugh case to be discovered. He was determined to find the truth, no matter what it took.
I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the hardworking women who helped in the writing of this book. They didn't hold back, and together we worked to its completion.
These women are some of the most intelligent, dedicated, and passionate people I know. They gave their time and energy to this project without hesitation, and they never gave up, even when things were tough.
I am so grateful for their contributions. Without them, this book would not have been possible.
Here are just a few of the ways in which these women helped to make this book a reality:
They researched and compiled the facts of the case. They went through the interviews of key witnesses and experts. They helped me to develop my ideas and to organize my thoughts.
They edited and proofread the manuscript.
They provided me with support and encouragement throughout the process.
I am truly indebted to these women for their help and support. This book is a testament to their hard work and dedication.
I would also like to thank all of the other women who have supported me in my writing career. I am so grateful for the female community of authors and readers. You are all an inspiration to me.
To all the hardworking women out there: thank you for everything. You are the backbone of our society.
