Michael Cole answered Goodreads's question: Where did you get the idea for your most recent book? I have a number of physics books and they always seem to divide into two camps - either they are devoid of mathematics (i.e. for laymen) or they are graduate level texts that skip steps, have no solutions for exercises, and have dense explanations.
