Dale Renton lives with his family in a pleasant suburb of Melbourne, where he is often seen walking in the company of a large, hairy dog called Xena.

Dale's latest novel is "DART" - (SF Action/Adventure with more than a touch of humor). You can find it as an eBook in all popular formats. It can also be ordered as a paperback or hardcover through Amazon.

Half Moon (Epic Fantasy, again with a touch of humor) - second edition - is available as an eBook from all the major outlets and as a paperback from Amazon. In response to reader feedback, this new edition features a map of the lands where Half Moon is set (drawn by Dale) and a complete list of characters for ease of reference.

Hi ➹ƓℛἎℂℰ⚡ - and thanks for taking the time to read and review DART - very glad you enjoyed it! To answer your question:

In the future where Dart lives, Artificial Intelligences (AIs) have acquired the same legal status and rights as 'flesh and blood' people - although subject to certain controls. These rights were established as a reward for two key developments by the AIs: the Gravity Disruptor technology that provides viable interstellar propulsion; and advanced cryogenics that enable humans to survive centuries-long travel.
We're an inquisitive and adventurous species. In my opinion, as soon as migration to the stars becomes possible, there will be an endless queue of volunteers.
As an aside - I suspect the way we are ruining our home planet, if it continues, will provide a powerful departure incentive.

Hi ➹ƓℛἎℂℰ⚡ - and thanks for calling by the website. It's new(ish) and I'm new to running one so taking a bit of time to get right. Your comment came to my email for approval(?!) - a setting of which I was unaware. It has posted now and I'll change the setting.
Dart's expression on the new cover is currently being amended to a grin - your feedback is the same as mine was to the artist!
As for (Rene) Descartes - 17th century French philosopher with a very famous quote that relates to the concept of a machine being equal to a person ;)
Finally - thank-you very much for recommending DART on the recent poll. Every bit of support helps!

A_ bookbound _soul I recently saw your blog post and tried to comment there but I'm not sure the comment was posted. Anyway, those covers are awesome! Although I think a smirk would look better on Dart ( maybe turn up the corners of his lips a little?)
As for the question: My memory really, really sucks!! I'm trying hard to figure out who Descartes was. Was he the former Slyth leader? Or the leader of the first settlers? And the Slyth did not agree with him so the formed a different community... This is as much I could guess from my not-so-good memory. Maybe I could use a reread!
Also looking forward for that readers competition. I'd love to get a signed copy from. Keep writing awesome stories!
