Jamie Alan Belanger lives in Maine, where he shares a home with seven computers, a rebellious toaster, and an alarming number of half-finished universes. He currently works as a freelance software engineer, architect, and troubleshooter for his company Syntax Sorcery. He devotes any free time to his other company, Lost Luggage Studios, where he is a programmer, designer, writer, editor, publisher, graphic artist, photographer, and more.

In short, Jamie is a workaholic who is rarely more than two days away from having a meaningful conversation with his toaster. His hobbies include WW2 and computer history, artificial intelligence theory, cooking, beer, nature, photography, and designing worlds he'd rather live in.

M.C. Escher
“Only those who attempt the absurd...will achieve the impossible. I think ...I think it's in my basement...Let me go upstairs and check.”
M.C. Escher

Douglas Adams
“The story so far:
In the beginning the Universe was created.
This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.”
Douglas Adams, The Restaurant at the End of the Universe

Jane Smiley
“Every first draft is perfect, because all a first draft has to do is exist.”
Jane Smiley

F. Scott Fitzgerald
“Writers aren’t people exactly. Or, if they’re any good, they’re a whole lot of people trying so hard to be one person.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Love of the Last Tycoon

Richard Dawkins
“We are going to die, and that makes us the lucky ones. Most people are never going to die because they are never going to be born. The potential people who could have been here in my place but who will in fact never see the light of day outnumber the sand grains of Arabia. Certainly those unborn ghosts include greater poets than Keats, scientists greater than Newton. We know this because the set of possible people allowed by our DNA so massively exceeds the set of actual people. In the teeth of these stupefying odds it is you and I, in our ordinariness, that are here.We privileged few, who won the lottery of birth against all odds, how dare we whine at our inevitable return to that prior state from which the vast majority have never stirred?”
Richard Dawkins, Unweaving the Rainbow: Science, Delusion and the Appetite for Wonder
