When you're starting out and finding your voice, there's value in mirroring writing you like. But as you do that, you have to notice what fits and what doesn't. Notice where it flows and where it's work. And then as your voice emerges, keep listening to it and letting it grow. It was in the process of writing my book that I identified my own voice: business casual, conversational, coach-like, encouraging without being rah-rah. I'm still working to trust that voice... it's easy to read other authors and compare myself: I'm not as serious/lofty/intense/academic/funny/whatever as they are. And that's okay! You might experience a similar dynamic, and maybe what you admire in others tells you something about your own voice. Take what works, and more importantly, be willing to leave what doesn't. (less)

While I've heard extroverts say they don't know what they think until they say it out loud, I often don't know what I think until I write it! It's through writing that I "say" things that come from parts unknown... it's how whatever has been simmering and mixing for a while comes together into something new. I love the challenge of constantly trying to improve and being able to see how my expressive abilities have evolved over time.(less)

Ep172: Endings and Beginnings [Blogcast]

Welcome to episode 172 of The
Introvert Entrepreneur. I’m your host, Beth Buelow, and I’m grateful that you’ve
joined me for this, my final episode of this podcast. It’s been a great 8 ½ year
run, and I’ve made the difficult decision to come to completion with the show.
Rather than have a final interview with someone – I mean, who wants to be your
last guest?! – I’m going to share with you some of the

“To be a soulful person means to go against all the pervasive, prove-yourself values of our culture and instead treasure what is unique and internal and valuable in yourself and your own personal evolution. ~ Jean Shinoda Bolen”
Beth Buelow, Insight: Reflections on the Gifts of Being an Introvert

“At the root of every excuse is fear. As Wayne Dyer points out in his book Excuses Begone!, there are really only two emotions: fear and love. Here's how I see it: If we were coming from a place of love - for ourselves, for others, for our purpose, for our existence as a representation of the divine - then there would be no place for excuses (that is, fear). The excuses are simply a way to put a label on fear.”
Beth Buelow, The Introvert Entrepreneur: Amplify Your Strengths and Create Success on Your Own Terms

“Faking is a waste of energy, and our energy is one of our most valuable assets. Spend it wisely.”
Beth Buelow, The Introvert Entrepreneur: Amplify Your Strengths and Create Success on Your Own Terms

“Life will give you whatever experience is most helpful for the evolution of your consciousness. How do you know this is the experience you need? Because this is the experience you are having at the moment.”
Eckhart Tolle, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose

“It was only a sunny smile, and little it cost in the giving, but like morning light it scattered the night and made the day worth living.”
F. Scott Fitzgerald

“Because one believes in oneself, one doesn't try to convince others. Because one is content with oneself, one doesn't need others' approval. Because one accepts oneself, the whole world accepts him or her.”
Lao Tzu

“Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”
Dr. Seuss

“If things start happening, don't worry, don't stew, just go right along and you'll start happening too.”
