Also, don't expect overnight success. I know it's always our dream to be the next phenomena, but sometimes it can take weeks or even months for book sales to pick up. Still, don't give up. If you have a good story and tell it well, you can't go wrong. (less)

There are a few ways I deal with writer's block.
#1. Take a break and give yourself some breathing room. I usually do a marathon on netflix to chill and feed my creative side. If you prefer to read, pick a good book or two and enjoy the story. Then try to hit the writing desk again.
If that doesn't work, I go on to #2. Find out what's creating the block. Maybe it's fear of failure or disapproval. Maybe it's the feeling you're inadequate for whatever reason. Or maybe something is wrong with the story--a plotline is holding you up and needs to be fixed. Either way, silence that inner critic by reminding yourself that you write for you--other people's opinions are subjective. All that really matters is that you love your story and want to tell it.
#3. Write anyway. Even if you hate every word, even if it all sucks, just get it on the page. You can fix it from there, but the main thing is getting SOMETHING on the page. (less)
