Frank L. Williams grew up in Northwest, a rural farming community in Brunswick County, twenty minutes from the historic Port City of Wilmington in southeastern North Carolina.

A prolific reader at an early age, he read many of the books in The Hardy Boys mystery series before completing third grade. Frank’s family has a love of America and a history of civic leadership that spans generations. He has followed in that tradition, having been actively involved in the political process for more than two decades.

After graduating from North Brunswick High School in 1988, Frank earned a degree from North Carolina State University’s Department of Communication in 1993. In August of 2001 he formed Pioneer Strategies, a public relations and strategic

First, there is no better time than now to get started. If you want to write, why wait?

With that said, if you are planning to write fiction, do some homework on fiction writing before you dive in head-first. A good book along these lines is "Foundations in Fiction." Learn how to develop characters, how to "show vs. tell", etc. I've done lots of public relations writing over the years, and fiction writing is very different than anything I have ever done. It is more art than science. I had a lot to learn when I started. (less)

Making Progress on Book 3

I’ve allowed that thing called life to stand in the way of my writing for the past couple of years. At long last, I’m beginning to make progress on Book 3 of the After the Republic series. Two nights ago, I wrote a fairly lengthy scene, and last night I wrote several shorter scenes. The more I get back into writing, the clearer the story arc becomes.

“Tell them to stock up on caffeine, man up and push through it.”
Frank L. Williams, After the Republic

“Vegetarians, and their Hezbollah-like splinter faction, the vegans ... are the enemy of everything good and decent in the human spirit.”
Anthony Bourdain, Kitchen Confidential : Adventures in the Culinary Underbelly

“Tell them to stock up on caffeine, man up and push through it.”
Frank L. Williams, After the Republic

“A soldier’s first duty, his reason for being, is not to fight. Fighting is the final recourse for any civilized people. His duty is not even to preserve the peace; that is a police officer’s job,” Comdr. Stephen Michaels of the NAC military said by rote, remembering the many long nights of arguments and discussions that had brought this to his mind. “A soldier’s first duty is simply to stand between his nation and any who might wish it harm.”
Evan C. Currie, Into the Black

“Lord it was easy to see a judge back then. If you went to the courthouse and explained what you wanted, they did everything for you. It was nothing like it is now.”
Michele Phelps Brown, Gertie

“Jedi Master. What would happen if Luke ever came face to face with the Sith? If he hunted Luke down, looking for the droids, looking for the princess? Luke had had a few hours of training; Ben had had decades! And still Vader had cut the Jedi Master down with a single blow. Leaving…nothing.”
Alexandra Bracken, A New Hope - The Princess, the Scoundrel, and the Farm Boy
