Sneak Snippet from King Kynneth; Book III in The Atriian Trilogy

Sam’s jaw tightened. “I’m trying to be patient, Christa. To give you time to come to terms with your fate. Surent yon must see was fating did land yon at Zeria. Was fating did land me there five segs later. Why do yon think you passed through the bathing room at the exact grain I was using it?”

“I heard a roggi,” she replied defiantly.

He fingered the beard in his lap, his eyes glittering dangerously. “You were decked as one pleasurer.”

“At least I had clothes on.”

He grinned devilishly. “Yon did tremble as one tippet.”

“You had a blade to my throat.”

“Yon did near fall in faint.”

“And yon did near get kicked in the kagege.”

A rumbling sounded in his chest, a throaty chuckle that sent an unpleasant tingling down her spine. She folded her hands coolly in her lap. “When did you know it was me?”

His grin vanished. “The grain yon eyes met mine. The grain mine heart began to beat again.”

Snippet from King Kynneth; Book III in The Atriian Trilogy

The new flames flickering to life at the hearth blurred through the welling tears. “Stop it, Sam,” she whispered. “You’re doing exactly what Lor Zeria did. Using my love for my children against me.”

“Is the children I am trying to protect, Christa!” he rasped with vehemence. “I love them also. Bixten and Deele as much as Becca. Deele will nayat be safe at Cas LaRosse. Neither will you when King Kynneth learns you live.”

She turned her face to him. “King Kynneth?”

Sam gave a dubious grin. “Those at Brice do nayat speak well of the new Leader of Lors. Seems same has claimed the all-powerful title of King and does threaten battlement on any lor who might refuse him such. Where might he have heard of such a title, mine dearest Christa?”

She lowered her eyes. “I may have mentioned it.”

Book III in progress!

At fifty thousand words, I am now about one third of the way through writing King Kynneth, Book III in The Atriian Trilogy. For those of you urging me to please hurry, I'm sorry for being such a slow writer. I agonize over every sentence, wanting it to be perfect. I can't help it.
In the end, I think it will be worth the wait!

Sneak snippet from King Kynneth, Book III in The Atriian Trilogy

Her shoulders were slumped where she sat slouched upon the bench. Staring numbly into the bath, she wondered how the water could possibly look the same as when she’d first entered. With the amount of tears she’d shed, it should have been overflowing and salty as any sea. An hour of soaking had not eased her angst. She mourned for the thousands of ganist marching to their deaths, could feel the weight of them upon her shoulders, a beastly burden crushing the life from her.

She looked down to the hands folded in her lap, then back to water, surprised it wasn’t blood red. She had done all she could. Now she only wished to return hailing as soon as huganisly possible. She pined for her children, an aching in her heart that had escalated over the sols to the point of agony.

Pulling the towel from her hair, she buried her face in it as she surrendered to sobs, they racking her, rocking her.

King Kynneth is one blasted blogart!

The world was a hazy gray.
It was not her world.
It was his. And he was a devon who knew no mercy.

She knew mercy.
She had wept as she held Reeva where she lie writhing and moaning upon the floor. She had rocked her, comforted her, pleaded to her for forgivings. Then she had crawled to the bunker to fetch the down pillow.

Aya, she knew mercy.
She had sat upon Reeva…had leaned in her weight, ignoring the hands clawing at the pillow, ignoring the legs kicking.

She knew compassion.
She was rocking with racking pain where she sat cradling Reeva’s head. With trembling fingers, she closed the departed eyes, then brushed the blood from the parted lips. She ran fingertips along the bridge of the largest nose she had ever seen, and tucked hair behind ears that could rival a tippet’s.

She knew hatred.
She curled her fingers about the blade’s hilt and dragged it close, sliding it along cold polished tiles. She closed her eyes tight, shutting out his world, shutting out Reeva’s pale face in her lap, shutting out the goggling guards in the doorway. They’d been given strict instructings not to interfere. She had been given instructings as well. She had one turning to carry them out before Breea’s head would join Fiora’s.

She opened her eyes and lifted the blade.
The world was gray.
It wasn’t her world.
It was his, and he knew no mercy.
He knew no mercy.

King Kynneth

Here he is. Our first look at King Kynneth. Christine isn't happy to be in his clutches, and I don't blame her one bit.
