Bart Soethaert studied Classical Philology and Modern Greek (Ghent University), Literary Studies (KULeuven) and Modern Greek Philology (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki) and received his Ph.D. in Modern Greek Studies from Freie Universität Berlin in 2017. His book "The turn towards the 'present-past'. Horizons of the historical novel (1935-1950) in Greece" (Edition Romiosini, 2018, in Greek) reassesses the conception of the historical novel by Angelos Terzakis, Pantelis Prevelakis and Thanasis Petsalis as a process contemporaneous with and determined by the modernizing impetus for formal innovation of the Greek novel (1930-1950).
