Hi Shaona,
hmm, the most difficult part of my latest book 'Girl with Cat (Blue)' was having to invent an entire parallel London (called Lundein) that exists in the same space as London but has an entirely different history, then swapping between the two worlds as we follow the story of two identical girls living in both.

The inspiration for this book came from a painting in a gallery (It's true that pictures inspire a thousand words or slightly more in this case).
However with my book Marikka it was inspired by a true event, a father who didn't want to pay tax decided to burn his house down with the family in it. Marikka is the girl who escaped but thought she would be blamed.

As for energising or exhausting? I am energised when I finally think of a new story and write like a demon (by hand) when inspired. The next ten drafts of the manuscript can be exhausting and then responding to readers comments (which are often incredibly useful). But one always has to keep in mind the original enthusiasm.

I hope all is well with you and studies going well. I also hope you will discover 'Girl with Cat (Blue)' my best book yet (I hope).
Be well
