I finally did it!
I finished my Novella. It's a slow-burn, sexy, funny romance called Finding What's Real. I started this over a decade ago and I am so in love with how it turned out. You can download it free from Smashwords here:

My First Novel
Seven years ago, I started to write a novel, and then my life changed. For a long time, I was intimidated by the prospect of continuing it, and while the characters continued to bounce around in my head, I procrastinated. After some encouragement by a fellow author, I'm now fully entrenched in finishing it.
I decided that if I was going to go for it, I was REALLY going to go for it. There would be no holding back or trying to write for the broadest audience possible. After all, I'm writing this for me. I'm not looking to be published or make any money.
Llamas, Love, & Lip Balm is a slow burn, ultra erotic romance full of snark and banter, and deals with adoption and moving beyond mental health issues.
Writing this has been pretty cathartic for me. I was adopted myself. In fact Jessica Gabriel is the name that my birth mother gave me when I was born, so it seemed the perfect choice for a pen name. I also suffer from bipolar depression. The mental obstacles that these characters face are all obstacles that I've faced myself.
I don't have a planned release date yet, but I'll let everyone know when it gets closer.

A quick spelling/grammar rant...
There are a couple of things that have been driving me especially nuts lately, and I'm hoping that if I rant about it, I'll get over it.
- The word Whoa. It IS spelled Whoa, not Woah. I know it's becoming more common and more widely accepted, but it drives me batty!
- The overuse of I instead of me. Okay, sometimes it IS appropriate to use me instead of I. For example, you would say, "Do you want to come with Jan and me to the store?" Me is the appropriate word. Take out Jan and you'll see why. You wouldn't ask, "Do you want to come with I to the store?" It has gotten to the point that I'm afraid to use me for fear that people will think that I'M wrong. I find myself changing the phrasing of things to avoid it all together. I'll say, "He and I are here if you have any questions" instead of "Contact Jim or me if you have any questions." Here's a URL if you think I'm nuts: https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/usa...
Whew. Rant over. I don't claim to have perfect spelling or grammar all of the time. Hell, sometimes my brain moves faster than my fingers and I'll find emails where I said things like, "I follow up tomorrow" or, "I'm send you the approval now." Brilliant, right?! Right. NOT.

What I'm working on...
I have a new short story started and also will be getting back to my novel this weekend. Plus, I have a few new authors' work to edit (and, of course, the obligatory READING). It will definitely be a weekend of words!
