Andrea Durbin, MA, MS, CCC-SLP, is a speech-language pathologist and former writer and editor for arts and culture magazines, nonprofit organizations, and educational institutions. Andrea earned a master of arts degree in communication at Marist College in 2009 and a master of science in speech-language pathology at Loyola University Maryland in 2021. She lives in Rockville, Maryland, where she enjoys art museums, nature trails, lavishing attention on her dog, Sasha, and striving to appreciate the preciousness of each moment.

Despite my education, I found it difficult to process the intense emotional challenges of my new work environment and writing was a great help with that. The stories grew into a book that chronicles my growth as a clinician, and also shines light on the sick and aging who reside within this corner of American healthcare that remains mostly hidden from public view.(less)
