Of all the books I've ever read, I most wish I had written this one.

India Hayford, The Song of the Blue Bottle Tree

“bottle trees in the front yard? That’s her house. She puts those bottles out to catch any bad spirits that might come creepin’ around her yard. Guess it must work; she’s the least haunted person I believe I ever met.”
India Hayford, The Song of the Blue Bottle Tree

“Sometimes she’d cry a little there in her sweetly decorated room, wishing she had a sibling or two to take on part of the weight of her parents’ high expectations for her.”
India Hayford, The Song of the Blue Bottle Tree

J.M. Hopkins I'm truly excited for India. Her journey in writing "The Song of the Blue Bottle Tree" has been rewarding to me as an author. She chronicled much of her journey to me in correspondence.
The ups and downs of the writing process - intertwined with the vagaries of daily life, and its travails - were met head-on by this remarkable woman.
The result was not a bunch of unfinished chapters, scribbled notes, and the like. Rather, the result was "The Song of the Blue Bottle Tree" - her debut novel.
Congratulations indeed, India!! May your work soar!!
J.M. Hopkins
