I am an author and live in the north east of England. After working thirty-two years as a steelworker, I retired early to concentrate on writing. I have been writing approximately eighteen years and have written and published thirty-four novels and over fifty short stories. My main genre is psychological thrillers and horror, but I have published a biography of a late friend and a war novel concerning the Holocaust.
My impatience with the mainstream publishers and my former publishers folding prompted me to self publish. i have rewritten and republished my books with KDP in 2022 and 2023. When purchasing, I would advise the latter editions. I appreciate all feedback. Thank you.

Sorry for taking so long to respond. My favourite character is Billy Woods in Insanity never Sleeps I+II. Yes, he becomes one of the most notorious serial killers in history, but as an ex-steelworker, we have similar backgrounds. He is actually likeable, which sort of scared me somewhat. My aim was for the reader to actually like this man, even though he was evil. I hope I achieved my goal. Most of my characters are based on real people. When I socailise, I watch people, but not in a creepy way. I have used countless friends in my books, but I never tell them who they are. It saddens me when I kill off a popular character, but I like to shock. Billy was part of my life for a while, and I worried that my fondness was not natural. Anyway, so far I have not butchered anyone... Not yet. (less)

I have no heros in the literary world, so I guess my inspiration came from within. (less)

“He shuffled up to the stake and examined the impaled, naked, dead man. The stake entered his anus and protruded through his gaping mouth, his death mask frozen in a look of horror.”
Anthony Hulse, Scent of the Dragon

“The towering, uniformed, blonde man demanded, rather than ordered yet another whisky. This was one of life’s luxuries exempt from rationing. To the swinging music of ‘Glenn Miller’, Lieutenant Patrick Starkey of the King’s Royal Rifle Corps drank himself into oblivion; the bloody war forgotten for now.”
Anthony Hulse, Comrades of Deceit

“On August 11th, 2010, NOAA gave permission for the US Navy to continue their training, which included mid and high-frequency sonar and the use of explosives, thus ignoring the devastating impact on marine life. They attempted to justify their actions by claiming sonar exposure is merely a matter of annoyance to whale and dolphins.”
Anthony Hulse, CRIES FROM THE DEEP

“Choose carefully. Avoid Rag, Tag & Bobtail. Avoid those who play it safe. They won’t offer a helping hand, and they can’t advise you. They’re boring, and that’s just about all that can be said about them. They are dead and obsolete. That’s it. They exist, they happen, but they don’t actually live.”
Karl Wiggins, Wrong Planet - Searching for your Tribe

“Bessie Stringfield epitomised the Carefree Scamp. She wasn’t trying to be any sort of inspiration for black women or female bikers. She was just living her life. It was her road and she knew that no one else could ride it for her”
Karl Wiggins, Wrong Planet - Searching for your Tribe

“In an age when most black women belonged to the ‘servant class’ – sweeping the yard, making the beds, cooking etc. – Bessie, orphaned at five, asked the Irish lady who took her into her home in Boston when she lost both her parents if she’d buy her a motorcycle.
And with the simple advice, “Just don’t get hurt” and even though “nice girls didn’t go around riding motorcycles” her adoptive mother bought her a 1927 Indian.”
Karl Wiggins, Wrong Planet - Searching for your Tribe

“At the tender age of 19 Bessie Stringfield commenced traveling across the United States. She’d toss a penny onto a map of the States and wherever it landed was where she’d go, and this was at the height of racism at its ugliest, yet this never stopped her. Though often denied accommodation because of the colour of her skin, she would find a place to sleep with black families or, if this wasn’t possible, she’d simply sleep on her motorbike at filling stations, using her rolled up jacket as a pillow”
Karl Wiggins, Wrong Planet - Searching for your Tribe

“I feel an almost overwhelming interest in the methods of daylight abduction employed by the modern youth.”
Georgette Heyer, Devil's Cub
