I started training in the martial arts as a young teenager and never stopped. I was lucky enough to turn it onto a profession and have been teaching full-time with private clients and at seminars for almost 20 years now.

I co-wrote my first book in 2003 and have published several since then, as well as producing numerous instructional videos. For the last five years, I've regularly published articles on my blog at http://www.wimsblog.com and enjoy it immensely. It's extra writing practice...

I don't. I'm from the Jim Butcher school of thought on this topic: I don't have a muse, I have a mortgage.
I treat writing as a job. Even if I don't feel like it, I need to be a professional and still get the work done. If that means I only get a few hundred words in instead of a few thousand when I don't have a lot of inspiration, tough luck. You want to write? Sit your butt down in the chair and hit the keyboard, one letter at a time. (less)

One of my articles caug…moreI wanted to "do something on the internet" many years ago and started a martial arts/self-defense site just for the fun of it. One of my articles caught the eye of one of the great men in this niche, Loren W. Christensen. He liked it and asked if I wanted to write a book together. At first I was floored by the offer. Then a bit scared: Was I good enough?
I decided to take the plunge and it was a lot of fun, which made me keep on writing. Loren ended up writing three books together and I wrote some smaller pieces for several of his books as well.
