Against a Crooked Sky

Against a Crooked Sky Against a Crooked Sky by Eleanor Lamb

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book has been an all-time favorite of mine. Actually that's not true. The MOVIE stuck with me for so long that as soon as I found out there was actually a book, I grabbed one of the few paperback (Bantam) editions available for sale on eBay, and read it immediately. And again. And again. It brought back so many memories. The movie is public domain, but THANKFULLY Against a Crooked Sky is coming to digital version (Kindle, Apple Books, Kobo, etc.) for the first time EVER. As SOON as it comes out in a nice new print, I plan on grabbing those editions as well. Great message in the book. One that everyone should come to understand. "No one has greater love than this: to lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13. Great Holy Bible passage, and the adventure that Douglas Stewart and Eleanor Lamb brought to the screen (and the book) is a great coming-of-age frontier novel.

Has it really been that long?

WOW! It has been a LONG time since I was on Goodreads, and I really regret it. I certainly need to catch up on things, AND get back to my own writing! I started a publishing company, Concordis Publishing, in July of 2020, and I am set to release several books from other authors over the next 3-4 years. Actually, 25-30 books, and SOME of them are mine. I will re-release "Remembering August" likely in July of 2022, AND continue writing the sequels. I have other books planned, some of which I never thought possible, but things change. Looking forward to getting back to author Rodney V. Earle's work, and we shall see what happens.

ViSalus 90-Day Challenge: Hunger

It’s interesting how we all get into that mindset that if we are hungry, that’s a BAD BAD THING!  Mine comes from being hungry as a kid, and having to compete for food, but I have learned that I DO know where my next meal is coming from.  Hunger is just another feeling, and it is NOT pain.  We will NOT die of hunger, nor will it harm us, especially if we feel it for an hour or two.  See this scale?  It’s the one they use in hospitals to get an idea of how much you are hurting when you are injured or sick.  Well, hunger pain is not on this scale.  It’s LESS than zero and at best, psychological.

Hunger does not exist on this scale, no matter how much you think hunger hurts.

As I progress on the ViSalus Challenge, I can’t say enough how I hardly EVER feel hungry if I am following the plan EXACTLY.  I don’t know what this week will hold after the huge losses of the previous two weeks, but I am going to keep working, and keep working, and then when I hit my 90-day goal, the REAL work begins.

I will do ANOTHER 90-Day Challenge… and another… and another… until I am as fit and healthy as I can be.  I feel guilty sometimes when I can’t work out (or just don’t make time for it) every day, because I REALLY want to keep losing and shaping up, but I am working on that guilt.  I have got to at least lace up the shoes and get out for 30 minutes, even if it’s just a walk.

Footnote:  I KEEP FORGETTING to eat my snacks because I’m not hungry during the day.  I just had mine an hour late, and now I won’t eat until about 1 PM, but it’s all good.  PUMPKIN SHAKE COMING UP!

Ever Have A Day Where…

Ever have a day where the wind is TOTALLY taken out of your sails?  I get up EVERY morning with a positive attitude as I wipe the sleep from my eyes and make my shakes (and my coffee).

It’s interesting how I can just be motoring along, getting things done, and then BAM!  Some craphead decides to throw a negative wrench in everything.  “You can’t do this… You can’t do that…  That’s STUPID!”

Ever have one of those in your life?  It’s one thing when it’s a family member, and we all have those, but sometimes when it’s a business colleague that you USED to respect and want to help succeed, it really throws me for a loop.

I am an author, I make my own hours (which is sometimes 18-hours a day) and I take my work very seriously.  I also take my CHALLENGE very seriously.  So when someone comes in a pees all over my corn flakes (to quote a phrase), it REALLY gets to me.

I took a nap (which I hadn’t done in over 2 weeks) and decided to wake up with a different attitude.  I did indeed.  I trimmed the fat, so to speak.  That person is no longer a business colleague, no matter what that means monetarily, because negativity is the LAST thing I need.  I am too tired and work too much for that mess.

My moral of this story… trim the fat… literally and psychologically, because Negative Nellie is a real DOWNER sometimes (or most of the time) and she LOOKS attractive, but we soon find out that there’s an agenda, or jealousy (that’s a big one) when we are determined to succeed.  BYE BYE, Nellie!

ViSalus 90-Day Challenge: Wanted: Big Arms

My whole life, I have always wanted big, well-defined, muscular arms and shoulders.  And I am here to tell you here and now that I am going to have them.  ViSalus begins with a V, and that’s the EXACT shape I want my upper body to look like.  Arms and shoulders completed for today, and now on to the 100 Workout.  If you have never heard of it, just Google “100 Workout” and you’ll find it.

ViSalus 90-Day Challenge: Pumpkin Spice Shake

Okay… maybe I lied.  I LOVE a blender FULL of ViSalus Pumpkin Spice shake with banana.  A frosty glass to pour it in, and follow it with a great cup of coffee.  Oh yeah… heaven in a blender.

Visalus 90-Day Challenge: Favorite Shake

I gotta say, the chocolate fudge shake with a hint of banana in it is by FAR my favorite.  It’s GO TIME!  Week 3 just starting, and it should be an interesting one.  I already saw HUGE changes in my body for the first two weeks, and I gotta be honest… I am a competitor.

I have been looking more and more into the ViSalus Champion thing, and I WANT THIS!  I have been overweight since I was 6 years old, and I am now 46.  Well, it’s time to FINALLY get this thing DONE, and perhaps motivate some friends and make some new ones along the way!

Weigh-in day is every Sunday.  Let’s DO THIS THING!

Visalus 90-Day Challenge: Before Picture

At 316.6 pounds. Up 31.6 from my lowest.

Oh yeah… definitely proud of this one.  Or maybe not.  Up 31.6 pounds from my lowest about a year ago.  THIS is the reason I started the ViSalus 90-Day Challenge.  Gotta be proud of this one.  lol.  No… but I beat myself up more than most people.  That’s just how it works with someone who has been fat their whole life.  Well… 90% of it, anyway.  But… it’s ALREADY changing.  More posts coming up.
