If you've read and reviewed my beloved cosy cottagecore fairytale already: thank you! I wrote this jewel of a story to bring some sunshine to the world, and I hope it has brightened your day just a little. It's been years since I finished and sent Fa ...more |

“Do you want children?’ ‘What?’ He stared at her, nonplussed. ‘Children,’ she persevered. ‘Small, screaming human beings that stink and break everything you own-”

“Unicorns?’ said Jay, incredulous. ‘You just whistled a quartet of winged unicorns out of your bra?’ ‘Never underestimate the benefits of a good bra,’ I told him with dignity. ‘As many a lingerie company will tell you.’ Jay, for once, had nothing to say.”

“There are few people whom I really love, and still fewer of whom I think well. The more I see of the world, the more am I dissatisfied with it; and every day confirms my belief of the inconsistency of all human characters, and of the little dependence that can be placed on the appearance of merit or sense.”

“She remembered one of her boyfriends asking, offhandedly, how many books she read in a year. "A few hundred," she said.
"How do you have the time?" he asked, gobsmacked.
She narrowed her eyes and considered the array of potential answers in front of her. Because I don't spend hours flipping through cable complaining there's nothing on? Because my entire Sunday is not eaten up with pre-game, in-game, and post-game talking heads? Because I do not spend every night drinking overpriced beer and engaging in dick-swinging contests with the other financirati? Because when I am waiting in line, at the gym, on the train, eating lunch, I am not complaining about the wait/staring into space/admiring myself in reflective surfaces? I am reading!
"I don't know," she said, shrugging.”
