Ready to Blog?
I'm still working out the kinks to link this blog with my bi-weekly Thursday posts over at Murder She Writes, but I also plan to post here regularly, working to keep a schedule (ha! Best laid plains, eh?) of Mondays and the Thursdays I'm not at MSW. When I'm done with the revisions for my May book, I'll be having an Author Q&A leading up to the release of the third Lucy Kincaid book, IF I SHOULD DIE (11.22.11.)

When she butts heads with Noah's boss over the murder of a high-profile Congressional mistress, she's sent to help DC Metro investigate the murder of a prostitute. As the body county rises, Lucy risks her career and her life to find a killer before he kills the only witness who can take him down.

I don't generally post blogs here (my primary blog is Murder She Writes) but try to keep this space updated with news about books.
The fifth book in the Lucy Kincaid series, STALKED, will be available on October 30, 2012 -- very excited because this book takes place in part at the FBI Academy at Quantico, where I visited twice (once in 2009 and once early in 2012.)
The sixth book, STOLEN, will be out on June 4, 2013. Fans of Sean Rogan, Lucy's boyfriend, will particularly like this book because it focuses on him and how his past affected who he is today. And his older brother Duke makes an important appearance in the book! And you'll find out why Noah Armstrong disliked Sean from the beginning.
I agreed to write two more Lucy Kincaid books for St. Martin's. #7 will be out in the Fall of 2013 and will reunite all the Kincaid's for Christmas ... except they have to make it to San Diego alive first! My pitch was "planes, trains, automobiles ... and murder." As an added bonus, this will also be Patrick's book and Lucy and Sean take a back seat.
Lucy #8 takes Lucy to her first month as a full FBI Agent. I don't know where she'll be assigned yet, but it's a new beginning for her and Sean!
And, I'm also developing a new series focused on investigative crime reporter Maxine Revere. She's a very different character than Lucy so she'll be fun to work with! MAXIMUM EXPOSURE will be out in the spring of 2014. I have a webpage to sign up for notifications for Max Revere where she'll have a blog about crime, criminal justice, and the law; and she has a twitter feed where she'll tweet about crime issues. I've never had a separate character identity before, but this should be fun!

2013 Release Schedule
Hi gang!
2013 is a busy year for me, especially with my oldest in college (why? Because I've lost my extra driver until April when Brennan #2 gets her license!) With my 11 year old in track, my 9 year old in club volleyball, and my 8 year old playing baseball, this Spring is going to be filled with sports and driving. Not to mention that Brennan #2 is searching for her own college.
Life's too short to be bored, right? :/
And of course I'll be writing!
I have two books and a novella coming out in the Lucy Kincaid series:

Cold Snap is going to be fun to write -- it's a series of three entwined stories as the Kincaid's all travel home for Christmas. I'm calling it "Planes, trains, automobiles and murder." And it has Patrick's story! Yeah! Gabrielle Santana is a handful, but Patrick has had it easy for awhile. He needs to be shaken up.
In early 2014, MAXIMUM EXPOSURE, the first book in the Max Revere series, will be out in hardcover. Max has been a completely different and interesting heroine and I'm very excited about her story.

Book Updates and More
STOLEN, the 6th book in the Lucy Kincaid series, came out last month. It focuses on Sean, and I loved writing a story predominately about him. Lucy plays an important role, but takes a back seat as Sean struggles with his past, his relationship with his brother, and wanting to have a future with Lucy.
The copyedits for COLD SNAP, the 7th Lucy Kincaid book, hit my desk while I was at Thrillerfest last week, so I'm digging in to get them back to my publisher. COLD SNAP is about all the Kincaid's as they try to get home for Christmas, with a focus on Patrick and his story. It's a little different, but catching up with the Kincaid's was a blast.
The Lucy Kincaid series will remain in mass market paperback (and ebook!), and there will be more to come in 2014 and 2015! But I'm also launching a brand new series in hardcover (and ebook!) starring Maxine Revere, an investigative crime reporter.
Originally, I posted the title of the book -- my working title when I conceived of the idea in 2010. But now that the book is written and in production, we changed it: NOTORIOUS is the first Max Revere book. I am very excited about this story. It's still a mystery/thriller, but a bit different than the Lucy series. Max is extremely independent, has two love interests (I call them "fire and ice" because Marco Lopez, the hot Cuban FBI Agent is all fiery and passionate, and Nick Santini, the cool-headed detective is the strong, silent ex-Marine.) I hope all my readers like Max as much as I enjoyed writing her.
NOTORIOUS will be out on April 8, 2014.

COLD SNAP is out and I'm very happy with this book, which is the story about obstacles in the Kincaid Family coming together for a Christmas reunion.
The story is really three stories together--the first, Patrick and Elle; the second Lucy and Sean; and the third Lucy, Carina and the rest of the Kincaids. Together they make up a full-length book, written in three parts, connected as the Kincaids face challenges to making it home for Christmas -- critical when they learn that their father, Colonel Pat Kincaid, has had a heart attack.
There's been a bit of confusion about "Reckless" being included in this book. "Reckless" was a digital-first novella, 25,000 words, that was published in March of 2013. Because I had so many readers who prefer print or don't own an e-reader, my publisher agreed to print the story in its entirely in the back of COLD SNAP. It's not an excerpt -- it's a complete novella. There's also a short excerpt to NOTORIOUS, my March 2014 release.
If anyone has any questions, I'm more than happy to answer them! I really love this book and wanted to revisit the Kincaids before Sean and Lucy settle into her new position as a Special Agent with the San Antonio FBI.
