thought provoking and held my attention

I really enjoyed this. It melds current social trends with the latest developments in AI to produce a believable thriller. Highly recommended for anyone interested in near-future speculative fiction.

“Experience is the teacher that gives you the test before the lesson.”
Henry Rausch, How to Hotwire an Airplane: A novel of regret and redemption

“Humans have a sixth sense that is so subtle that we take it for granted and don’t even consider it as a “sense” like the other five. But without this sense, walking is impossible. People who lose it are confined to a wheelchair. That sixth sense is proprioception, the awareness of the positions of all parts of one’s body. Close your eyes and consider where your arms, your hands, your head, your feet are. Move your hand in an arc above your head. As it moves, you are always aware of where your hand is relative to every single other part of your body. That is proprioception.”
Henry Rausch, Submerged: Life on a Fast Attack Submarine in the Last Days of the Cold War

“Things happened way too quickly. I was reacting, not anticipating.”
