I'm one of Chicago's very own, born and raised in the Northside of Chicago. I reside in Lakewood Ranch, Florida, where I've lived since 2017. Even though I no longer live in Chi-town, I'm still a die-hard Bears, Bulls, Blackhawks, and Cubs fan. Portillo's has several Florida locations where I can get my Italian Beef and Chicago-style hot dog fix, and I hit up Giordano's whenever I'm in the Orlando area. My favorite pastime is watching my daughter play volleyball.

Som…moreBecause my book is a memoir, it was drawn from my memories, so I don't think I had writer's block like someone might have had with a fiction book. Sometimes, I wasn't sure how to phrase something and would get stuck on a word or sentence, switching back and forth. An hour or two later, with no progress, I would pause that section and work on another memory.
I would be doing a normal activity, walking/eating/playing when an idea of how to navigate the book would pop into my head. I loved those moments! Out of nowhere, you knew how to fit the pieces together. Those were cool feelings! (less)

I've considered writing this book for many years but struggled with sharing intimate and embarrassing moments and feelings. I'm a private person and usually don't volunteer information. Elaborating and being an open book is way out of my comfort zone. Many times I asked myself: What are you doing? Are you really going to tell people that?
