Are You Enlightened?
The dynamic essence of being enlightened is so expansive it defies definitive words and symbols, so let’s explore an understanding of Enlightenment. Here is my understanding; enlightenment is awakening a mindset that “feels” the revelation of amazing new intuitions that eventually becomes inspirational or transformational experiences. In so doing I transcend the tendency to gather those thoughts into concepts and simply experience “knowing” their deep truth.
According to this understanding, the basis for considering oneself enlightened does not include a conceptual paradigm of enlightenment, it is sensing oneself as “being enlightened” based on how one feels about the experience of their revelations. Any further explanation is rhetoric underpinning a quest for enlightenment according to one’s philosophical mindset.
So for me, being enlightened is not necessarily ordained by the practice of meditation. That practice has awakened my experience, but it is not the only gateway. Enlightenment is neither an alliance with nor training from spiritual gurus, charismatic new age disciples, or otherworldly beings. It is the experience of selfhood based on feeling the indescribable essence of being enlightened. Enlightenment is something we each achieve by ourselves, though others may offer guidance and support.
However, being enlightened is not a destination; it is an ever-expanding journey from ego into true being. So in conclusion, the essence of being enlightened is not gaining wisdom; it is how I experience the feelings of my true being on a daily basis.

Six months later, over one hundred students seated in an amphitheater classroom awaited the arrival of the professor. The gathering was a mixture of graduate students who’d majored in various professional disciplines.
Printed on the far left of a long blackboard behind the podium was an untitled list of ominous conditions. The listed conditions included systemic greed, global financial collapse, ecological degradation, virulent terrorism, perpetual war, pandemic disease, genocide, regional famine, massive poverty, depletion of natural resources, governmental corruption, hate crimes, and the greenhouse effect on global warming.
Ben entered the classroom from stage right, walked to the podium, and placed his notes on it. He looked up at the audience, then turned to the blackboard and announced, “We cannot solve the problems with the same thinking used when we created them, Albert Einstein.” He walked to the blackboard and quickly printed the paraphrased quote below the list. At the side of the list, Ben printed Professor Benoit.
