Firstly, Alina Voyce is a pseudonym. In the real world she answers to the name 'Sue Grainger'.

She is a wife, the mother of two adults (at least, that's what the law calls them - but they're fighting it), and has lived in East Yorkshire, England, for her entire life. It's an area she's proud to call 'home'.

Naturally creative, she's an author, an artist, and enjoys baking and decorating cakes for her family and friends. She's also a keen observer of the world around her, and has a passion for music that ranges from classical, to country, to rock.

The stories she writes are a mesh of ideas generated by who she is and who she imagines herself being as part of the plot. The world is a fascinating place, and the people she meets a constant source

In my experience, the more I stress about not being able to get the words out, the worse it gets.

So I usually just go off and do something else, and stop thinking about writing altogether for a while. Then, when I'm ready, I sit down, close my eyes, and listen to whatever music takes my fancy. I try to visualise whatever scene or character is giving me the problem, and mentally figure out the reasons for that.

But if THAT doesn't work, I sit down with a pen and a pad of paper and start writing my thoughts down - whether that's in list format, drawing mind-maps or scribbling down ideas for taking the plot in a slightly different direction. Eventually... I'll hit on something that fills me with renewed enthusiasm, and the words start to flow again!

Overall, I think the key for me, is giving myself 'permission' to find things difficult sometimes. It's not the end of the world, and it WILL get resolved... I view the 'blocks' as my subconscious putting the brakes on, and saying: 'hang on... are you SURE you want to write it like that?' It's surprising how often the answer is 'No'! (less)

Every time someone reads my work, enjoys it, and lets me know - through a review on Goodreads or Amazon, on my Facebook page, or via my website, it truly makes my day.

When a reader progresses through my work and then asks when they can expect more... Well, it doesn't get much better than that for a writer!(less)

Treasure Trails

To my mind, there's a difference between 'Treasure Hunts' and 'Treasure Trails'. Treasure hunts require you to solve clues in order to reach the treasure at the end, but treasure trails are journeys were each point gives you a new experience/pleasure.

Take my journey from a January sale find, to a poet. It started years ago, when I found::

“Okay. Let's see what we've got." He lifted up her foot and said, "Well, what we've got here is a freakin' boat."

Really?" She slammed her heel against the side of his face, snapping his head to one side. "How big are they now, Mitch?"

Rubbing the abused side of his face, "Dainty little elf feet?"

"Exactly.”

“Sissy Mae Smith...stumbled into the room loaded down with even more bags. "You pack like a woman," she snarled when she finally dropped the luggage to the floor. "How can one man have so much conditioner?"

His mouth filled with French toast, Mitch pointed at his hair and snarled, "Tawny mane! Do you think this shit stays this beautiful on its own? It needs care and love! Which is more than I'm getting from you!”
