Cecile M. Sheff found her own Happily Ever After over 40 years ago and has built both a home and a life with her partner in Southern Ontario over the many years they've been together. It's this relationship that informs her romances and helps her to write believable and heartfelt happy endings (or continuings) for her characters.

But real life happens in the course of any romance, and without the challenges and traumas that come into a life, the happy endings don't hold the same gravity. Which is why she is always delighted when she's told that she is "mean" to her characters.
