Alexander Petrow is a former crime reporter and current editor-columnist specializing in political satire — or, as he puts it, “someone whose daytime job is to irritate people in power and their followers.”
His experience working with the “cream of the crop” in political and criminal psychopathy has given him front-row seats to both horror and comedy.
Because evil, as he’s learned, is not only perfectly banal but also incredibly stupid — often to the point of parodying itself. His writing is heavily influenced by Sir Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams, John Wyndham, and P.G. Wodehouse, as well as Ms. Reality, who has an annoying habit of sticking her nose even into science fiction.

Why I wrote a book like The Weather Forecast in Hell.
Why not something lighter?

Simple: I couldn’t fake it.

This book was born from watching systems collapse — slowly, stupidly, and with total confidence in their own logic. Humanity doesn’t just malfunction. It malfunctions loudly, while insisting everything’s fine. And in the middle of that absurd meltdown, I realized something:

“Q: Who do you think will hate this book?
Readers who need likable characters, happy endings, or faith in humanity’s progress.”
Alexander Petrow, The Weather Forecast in Hell

“To those who claim I lack respect for the human race — I will say that, after all, I removed the phrase ‘depressed neurotic monkeys’ from all the places in the book; and not just because I like and respect monkeys. What does that tell you?”
