~ a writer who enjoys reading in her spare time.

Author of ‘The Apprentice’, and the prequel, ‘Tales of Market Street’; E. K. Cross is currently penning her debut trilogy The Apprentices of Galena.

In pursuing a love of storytelling, E. K. Cross earned a Master's in Writing, was a finalist in Pulp Idol, and worked various part-time jobs to sustain her dream of becoming a full-time storyteller. Though her work specialises in the realms of magical realism and fiction writing, she is keen to experiment with other genres, because every story is worth sharing. Stephen Fry has done it once again. Looking back at Mythos; I found Heroes was no less entertaining, excellently complied, and thoroughly researched.

I do not think of myself as an expert in Greek mythology - though enjoy reading about it sometimes -

I have always loved Stephen Fry's myths, and on my second re-through, I grew to appreciate and understand them even more. They're easily digestible (compared to the historical text), while incorporating humour, fact, and the occasional personal anecd ...more

“Ordinary people are very capable of making a difference in this world, and we are but the ordinary people are we not; but change – real, monumental, change – is made by the fiercest of persons, and only you can decide which person you wish to become.”
E. K. Cross, The Apprentice

“Wide cobbled roads and slanted structures merge into the next. Each tall house is made from mismatched bricks and wood; the buildings there are the oldest of the city, and they too are worn by time. Sagging into the old stonework as if their old wooden bones can no longer hold the weight. Though the splintered beams remain, chunks of plaster chip away from rough brickwork and the old tiles wriggle restless beside lopsided chimneys. On the narrow streets below, vendors set up wooden stalls down the centre, cover themselves with slender awnings, and call out to passing customers. The gentle clop of stallion hooves draws along a rickety carriage; its tender huffs drown by the chattering of voices and whispers of lost tales. Of gossip told at noonday and secrets shared at vigil when the night is upon them. The smell of baked breads and sweet honey tea permeates the air as the wind hisses along. Bells chime as doors open and footprints mark out routes between shops.”
E. K. Cross, Tales of Market Street

“It is no use bottling up this emotion. All too soon it will overwhelm you and you shall drown. You are as fickle as the tide, so let the sea water wash over you until you are ready to stand.”
E. K. Cross, The Apprentice

“Magic does not belong to Shénnóng. It is not unique to one god or the other. Those are human terms, human rules. All magic is the same. It is only the vessel that shapes it.”
Judy I. Lin, A Venom Dark and Sweet

“The bond of family is a kind of magic all its own.”
Judy I. Lin, A Venom Dark and Sweet

“To be human is to be vulnerable. To be human is to have more power than the gods will ever wield”
Judy I. Lin, A Venom Dark and Sweet

“The children were fond of stories, of hero soldiers and buccaneer bounties as muttered by the village elders; but they were especially fond of their instructor’s extravagant fables. Though some were not sure if the old man’s ramblings were ever completely true or not.”
E. K. Cross, The Apprentice

“Ordinary people are very capable of making a difference in this world, and we are but the ordinary people are we not; but change – real, monumental, change – is made by the fiercest of persons, and only you can decide which person you wish to become.”
