A writer's life is full of distractions - children, jobs around the house, general interruptions, phone calls . . . the list goes on and on! An artist friend of ours told me a few weeks ago that, regrettably, she was having to give up her art studio due to other commitments. She'd found this little gem on a farm deep in the Oxfordshire countryside, yet near enough to town to make it an easy commute. Happily, she thought of me as the ideal person to take over the lease. It's an old granary in an ideal setting - smack in the middle of the farmyard with gorgeous views over the fields. I'm happy to say that I'm almost moved in and I'm really looking forward to getting down to a good solid few hours of daily creativity during the working week. Hopefully it won't be too quiet; I may need to record some background noise to take with me just to feel normal - we'll see how it goes! Anyway, the carpet will soon be laid, the whiteboard will be up, along with as many inspirational accessories I can think of . . . If all works out, the sequel to 'Black December', (working title is 'Creatures of Dust') will be finished by year end. I'll let you know how things are progressing - in the meantime do feel free to drop me a line - I'd love to hear from my readers about, well, anything really!
