Creatures of Dust is out!

Just a heads up to all you Good Readers that the sequel to 'Black December' is now available on Amazon.

This is DCI Brendan Moran's second outing as a lead character and this time he really has his work cut out. Here's the brief synopsis:

An undercover detective goes missing and the body of a young man is found mutilated in a shop doorway. Is there a connection? Returning to work after a short convalescence, DCI Brendan Moran's suspicions are aroused when a senior officer insists on freezing Moran out and handling the investigation himself.

A second murder convinces Moran that a serial killer is on the loose but with only a few days to prove his point the disgruntled DCI can't afford to waste time.

As temperatures hit the high twenties, tempers fray, and the investigation founders, Moran finds himself coming back to the same question again and again: can he still trust his own judgement, or is he leading his team up a blind alley?

Creatures of Dust is a taut police procedural set in the gritty atmosphere of a modern English town that will keep you on the edge of your seat as DCI Moran confronts not only his own fears and insecurities, but also the menacing, murderous presence known as 'The Kafir'...

The paperback edition will be available two weeks from now.

Creatures of Dust

I'm at the final stages of 'Creatures of Dust', the second in the DCI Brendan Moran series of Crime thrillers.

Here's the blurb ...

'A young detective working undercover on a drug operation goes missing and the body of a young man is found mutilated in a shop doorway. Is there a connection? DCI Brendan Moran’s suspicions are aroused when a senior officer insists on freezing Moran out and handling the investigation himself.

A second murder convinces Moran that a serial killer is on the loose but with only a few days to prove his point Moran can’t afford to waste time. Under threat from an ex-colleague and distracted by the attentions of a pretty physiotherapist, Moran must rely on his experience and gut instinct to track down the killer before the body count rises.'

Publication will be in April/May 2013 ...

Watch this space!

Rattle and Drum

I've just published some musical memoirs under the title of 'Rattle and Drum - a life on the edge of rock 'n' roll'.

The book is available at present only on Kindle; paperback release will take another couple of weeks. It's a short book, hence the low price.

Have you ever been in a band? Wondered what it's like to be on the road? Wonder no more . . .

'Rattle and drum' is an entertaining, fascinating and occasionally laugh-out-loud account of a life on the edge of rock 'n' roll.

Down at the farm . . .

A writer's life is full of distractions - children, jobs around the house, general interruptions, phone calls . . . the list goes on and on! An artist friend of ours told me a few weeks ago that, regrettably, she was having to give up her art studio due to other commitments. She'd found this little gem on a farm deep in the Oxfordshire countryside, yet near enough to town to make it an easy commute. Happily, she thought of me as the ideal person to take over the lease. It's an old granary in an ideal setting - smack in the middle of the farmyard with gorgeous views over the fields. I'm happy to say that I'm almost moved in and I'm really looking forward to getting down to a good solid few hours of daily creativity during the working week. Hopefully it won't be too quiet; I may need to record some background noise to take with me just to feel normal - we'll see how it goes! Anyway, the carpet will soon be laid, the whiteboard will be up, along with as many inspirational accessories I can think of . . . If all works out, the sequel to 'Black December', (working title is 'Creatures of Dust') will be finished by year end. I'll let you know how things are progressing - in the meantime do feel free to drop me a line - I'd love to hear from my readers about, well, anything really! There's the next book to consider; perhaps a sequel to 'The Trespass'. Any takers? See you soon! Scott.
