James Yates is a proud member of the Horror Writers Association. He writes horror fiction that blends the brutal, the supernatural, and the psychological. Focusing on working-class British settings and character-driven stories, his debut novel The Cleanse explores the monstrous in both man and myth. A lifelong devotee of horror in all its forms – from slasher to folk to the quietly unhinged – he draws from a background that understands just how grey the edges of humanity can be.

Seen Price drop almost over

'Seen' price drop is almost over. Managed to hit #2 in British and Irish horror during this time. I couldn't quite pip Mary Shelley for that #1 spot. Bloody Frankenstein movie done me over a kipper. Oh well, theres always next time.

For now, I'm concentrating on the release of Belsnickel: A Winter Horror (theres still some ARC spots if anyone is interested.)

And keep an eye out for a price drop aro Read more of this blog post »

O Holy Shit indeed.

What started off as a Willy Wonka-esque escapade unravels into so much more. Think Wonka-meets-N0s4a2-meets______ I will not say the last one as it would be too much of a spoiler.
What an ending.

Belsnickel by James Yates
"This is a fun, fast, and satisfyingly bloody Christmas horror novella. If you want a quick read that feel like an homage to 80s slasher films, this is for you. A perfect mix of gore, corniness, and festivity.

The characters aren’t deeply developed, wh" Read more of this review »
Belsnickel by James Yates
"This was pretty cool. I've read books about the different folk stories and mythologies about Christmas and the winter solstice but not about this particular guy. I really enjoyed the yin and yang between Belsnickel and St. Nick, the actions of the pa" Read more of this review »
